"Boosting the toolbox for live imaging of translation"

The authors developed a new set of #Suntag tools (differnt green fluorescent proteins, different promoter for scFv) - optimizing them and identifying possible artefacts. these are primarily for #Drosophila but I guess could be adapted to other organisms.

They also developed a new system called ALFA_array which they test in fly and mammalian cells.

Just because we love PKmito ORANGE, here's a little bonus movie showing #STED #LiveCellimaging of HeLa cells stained with PKmito ORANGE and mtDNA (picogreen). this movie is adapted from movie S3 in the following article from @zhixingchen lab: https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2215799119

We are thrilled to announce that the outstanding mitochondrial probes PKmito ORANGE , RED and DEEP RED will be available at Spirochrome through its distributors network in January 2023.
PKmito probes are gentle to the cells and allow long term imaging as well as recording amazingly crisp STED images of mitochondrial cristae.
Read more about PKmito ORANGE in the fresh article from Zhixing Chen and Stefan Jakobs labs out in @PNASNews

A very nice movie of HUVECs stained with our live cell actin probe SiR-actin. It compares YES kinase depletion by siRNA to a control siRNA in a collective migration assay.

Read more about YES kinase, its VE-Cad phosphorylation and endothelial adherens junctions in this very nice article in Nature Cardiovascular Research by the lab of Lena Claesson-Welsh:

Tyrosine-protein kinase Yes controls endothelial junctional plasticity and barrier integrity by regulating VE-cadherin phosphorylation and endocytosis - Nature Cardiovascular Research

Jin and coauthors show that Yes-mediated tyrosine phosphorylation is critical for VE-cadherin’s constitutive internalization and junctional pliability in endothelial cells, but it is not required for the induction of vascular leakage.

Ok, wow! I just briefly browsed the pics and movies in this preprint from Scott Coyle lab, and they look amazing and beautiful!
looks like an great system for cell tracking, single cell analysis etc...

Hello #ScienceMastodon!

I am a molecular and cellular neurobiologist leading a research group trying to figure out #AxonalTransport & #neurodegeneration. A big emphasis on #microtubules, #kinesin and #dynein, but really the transport of anything that doesn't have a membrane around it. We use a lot of #SingleMolecule methods and #LiveCellImaging.

I also post about #researchculture, particularly how we can better invest in people so they can do great science.
