After the Chronic Migraines, Light Sensitivity was the next big symptom to develop for me.
Much in the same way that I've always suffered with migraines, I've always been very sensitive to light...but when all of this started with my body, it all kind of ramped up to an unmanageable, intolerable, chronic level.
I have my curtains and blinds closed most of the day, if not permanently. I removed the bulb from the "Big Light" in my room, to ensure nobody could ever turn it on unexpectedly. When I settle down for sleep, I have to cover even the smallest source of light to stpp it from peneterating my eyelids.
Bunlight, my bunny shaped nightlight, is set to the darkest red I can get her so she still illuminates the bad corner, but the light isn't as disturbing as it could be.
And I have only just come to the realisation (that sparked my need to write this post) that the brighter the light I am exposed to, the quicker my limited energy drains.
I keep my phone screen quite dark most of the time, occasionally having to increase brightness to make out detail in images, etc, and I noticed a little while ago that I was really starting to crash with it turned up just a little bit.
Brightness turned back down and, while obviously I'm still drained, I can feel myself more capable of...like, a little bit of life.
