Story acceptance letter in my email inbox today! A lovely surprise on this rainy spring day.
My detour into Inverted Reversal is completed. I shot through the last chapters in a whirlwind.
Once again, I cried.
I won’t publish the novella because it’s backstory for Book-7. It’s also the saddest, most tragic story I’ve ever written. A character with no understanding of how magic works makes a critical mistake.
All I can do is witness, and cry, the sadness lingering.
Be everwell.

Challenge #04844-M095: All Welcome Inn
They opened an Inn with a restaurant less than a half-mile from the opening to tunnels that lead to underdark cities. The rules were simple. Don't be an arse, everyone was welcome, and if you were too poor to afford food and shelter, no problem, you'll still be fed. The staff consisted of both sunsiders and people from the underdark working together, with the shift changing as the sun set and rose so that the place was always open for those in need. -- Anon Guest[AN: It's 'Everdark', which is legally distinct from Underdark (a wholly owned subsidiary of WotC) ]My detour into Inverted Reversal has turned out to be a good thing. It’s rejuvenated me, reignited the spark.
In truth, what I’m doing I was going to have to do later, but doing it now is providing a break from targeted editing.
It’s also me experimenting with leaving more adverbs in the story. After, I’ll read through it and see what I think. I wish I’d done this long ago.
Be everwell.

Challenge #04843-M094: Healer's Helper
Healing halls across the land hear of a miracle wine that allows healers to see broken bones and other internal injuries so they can treat them. While some lands, mainly those of greedy rulers who think such wonders should ONLY be for the nobility, forbid their healing halls to have it, most refuse such orders and beg Wraithvine to help them set up deliveries. This will greatly aid them in their work. Just like the invention of the vermin-repelling bands did.https://peakd.com/fiction/@internutter/challenge-04822-m073-a-glass-for-your-health (the wine)(Can't find the prompt, but Wraithvine helped an inventor test a special band that repelled all fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, and all other vermin that plagues travelers, esp. near swamps.) -- Anon Guest[AN: I can't find it either, Nonny. I've tried three different ways for quite a bit of time. I leave it to those with better memories or more time on their hands]Okay, I took a temporary detour.
I should’ve started the targeted edit on Trellis House yesterday, but I needed a break. Targeted editing is intense and demanding. On the edge of burnout, I needed a change.
So, I’m revising the novella Inverted Reversal, a key backstory for Book-7. I won’t be publishing it, so it’s a more casual task.
Except that the story is heartbreaking.
Be everwell.

Challenge #04842-M093: Multi-Level Marketing
They were a "sunsider", but they went to the Everdark quite frequently for trade. They were viewed and treated as unwelcome for quite a while, until it became clear they held no prejudice against any cognizant species. They always traded fair, and had no qualms of paying even a higher rate charged due to them being a sunsider. After all, most of these individuals were treated poorly up top, they couldn't blame them for acting such toward those that came from the surface. -- Anon GuestTrade with the civilisations of the Everdark began with the High D'varuv and the Gnomes. They were tunnelers and diggers before they found their way to the 'sun side' of the world. It was with their good repute and some tokens of their favour that got Narhem deeper into the literal underworld.
A definitive guide to the New Weird — the genre that ate the walls between science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Origins in Lovecraft and Machen, the 2003 naming debate, in-depth analysis of Perdido Street Station, Annihilation, Viriconium, and Who Fears Death, author quotes, political dimensions, and eight craft principles for writers entering the territory.
Another eclectic day where I refined the Brick Palace blueprint, reacquainted myself with Trellis House, and finished my examination of the issues plaguing Book-7.
I also wrote a lengthy message to myself in my journal about obsessing over adverbs. Yes, some need removed, but they also help a deep POV flow better.
A deep POV narrative is basically dialogue with the reader.

Nothing like an eclectic day after months of editing Book-5.
Yesterday, I setup my journal for April and at last made a diagram of the Brick Palace, which I should’ve done five years ago.
Using the diagram, I’m making fixes to the novella before its targeted edit. What a difference that’ll make, instead of the characters seemingly always in the same room.
I’m already happier.
Be everwell.
