All the Kovenlore novels contain a journey that occupies a portion of the story, but always the biggest share of the book takes place in a particular location.
For instance, in Book-1 it’s Barnavava and in Book-2 it’s Meldenphire.
Book-5 flips that ratio on its head, the majority of the story taking place in the dense conifer forests of the Lost Hills.

When I developed the Ministry of Magic in my series, an organization of evil in Carrdia, I wrote their leader as a heartless businessman since I’d met so many.
I combined that with the truly evil men who’ve led various countries over the just the last century.
As of late, I’m horrified to see that face of evil in current events. Tragic times, it seems, can trump even fiction.

It’s strange how we talk about how we knew where we were when a major event occurred. Yes, I recall seeing the 1969 moon landing.
I also remember facts about my books, like where the initial spark came from and how it developed. Those are also memories that I treasure.
It’s my hope that you, too, have similar memories, even if you’re the only one, like me, who remembers.

I’ve criss-crossed the US over the years, and those places inspired places that appear in the Kovenlore Chronicles. In Carrdia, there are the Baris Plains.
That’s the high plains of Wyoming. There are spectacular mountain ranges in the state, but between them are basins and prairie.
I know the harsh weather, wind especially, all too well, having lived there for years.

I’m editing my way through the novella, Trellis House, which I’ll publish with, but behind, Book-5. It creates a bridge to the next novel.
It’s also quite different from the novels, almost YA (one main character is 18, the other 20). It pairs Tryn and Kasaria, two girls you’d never expect to share a story.
