The unreal engine 5 “official tutorial” seems to be designed to create a PQ test (programmer quotient) so that people who can’t actually code never get it working.

(Examples:
Connect this input to “Health” - their engine pre-created that variable in the player BP as “Current HP”.
DoubleClick “fnBPIButtonOn” - ‘this tutorial’ created it earlier as “fnBPISwitchOn”.)

Seriously. Not a small amount of syntax/naming errors in it. Fortunately, after almost 50 years of coding, I quite enjoy squashing bugs and mistakes. 🤪👍

Learning to use Blueprints in the Unreal Engine 5.6 is making my brain hurt.
I am a programmer, experienced in several languages, but this strange visual representation and hierarchy is puzzling me. Eventually, sometime in the next couple of days, it will click.
Until then, my programming brain will keep asking me “why don’t we just switch to C++ instead?” 😂
My ND brain made me something of a programming savant. I ‘see’ the finished code in my head and just type it out. Never needed to draw diagrams, write pseudocode, use the JSP or OOP diagrams they taught us at Uni to create anything.
After the code worked, I reverse engineered the ‘planning’ nonsense that never actually happened in order to attach it to the assignment. True story. 🤓

Ah! Dus ik had een #Unreal project met alleen maar #ue5blueprints. Daar had ik een simpele C++ class aan toegevoegd en de folder met C++ Classes verscheen niet in mijn editor. Daarom ook maar een module toegevoegd. Vervolgens zei de editor dat die de verkeerde versie had. Nou blijkt de sourcecodeversie 5.5.1 een andere versie te zijn dan de editorversie 5.5.1, dus nu heb ik mijn op de source code gebaseerde project maar met de source code editor geopend et voilà: een C++ folder. 🥳

I don't know how to calculate this correctly, so I added a Scene Component, I use to reference the position and rotation of each object. I pass the info of this object to component for relative data, then I pass its global data to the created object
