So I have been back to daily driving Linux for about a month now. With that said, I have distro-hopped around a bit. I have mainly kept coming back to Fedora, but @ublue it keeps tempting me back. I just wasn't a fan of using @homebrew the package manager, but I did notice that Brew had a major update recently that should have fixed some of the annoyances I had with it. However, all that said, not sure I would end up back on Bluefin, but Aurora looks attractive for @kde because I love the KDE desktop.

As I continue to explore #kdenlive I was pleased to see there is not only a way to comprehensively remap #shortcuts but I can actually generate a config file so anyone else can make use of the layout. I'm currently porting #davinciresolve
shortcuts and for those functions that don't have a direct correlation I'm making shortcuts that fit the same #language The project is available on #github now:

For any developers, particularly #linuxaudio enthusiasts, if you are interested in a project like this, any help is welcome. The goal is to build an immutable #ublue image like #bazzite but for audio production. So that people like us, who do like to tinker with our system, can share our optimisations with those who might usually be put off using Linux for audio.

Well Bluefin LTS is pretty stable and clean just how i like it #linux #centos #bluefin #lts #immutable #ublue

@Ivovanwilligen I’m ‘in love’ with anything #ublue. My game pc is running #Bazzite and the laptops are running #Aurora.

Universal Blue also has a gnome version called #bluefin, https://projectbluefin.io/

These are all immutable Linux distros, you can’t really break anything. And if you do, there’s a rollback feature. 😎

Bluefin

The next generation cloud-native Linux workstation, designed for reliability, performance, and sustainability.

I finally flicked the switch from #bluefin to a custom #nixos flake with #distrobox and #flatpak support in early February. Loving it. There's no going back!

The flake offers a curated basic setup that vibes well with #ublue spins. I'll release it after ironing out a few things and adding an installation ISO.

Using homebrew for the first time on Bluefin I immediately hit a snag trying to install 'cowsay' (homebrew-installed perl vs system perl). This led me to try out Distrobox for the first time and it works like a charm.

New ways of doing things introduce new tools and methods. I'm approaching Bluefin with "beginner's mind". 🙂

Universal Blue/Bazzite/Silverblue/other immutable Linux friends: (why) should I be using Homebrew?

I contribute to a handful of web projects that use npm, ruby, and probably other package managers. I’ve not really had a problem lately installing things the way those projects say to for Linux, but I keep hearing about people using Homebrew on Linux. When needed, I can also spin up a toolbx container and work in there. Am I missing something?
