Space Weather

The Bz component of the initial CME is strongly positive at +15nT, so don't expect much auroral activity to start with (for anyone with darkness at this time). For strong aurora, the Bz, or magnetic component, needs to be the opposite polarity of Earth's magnetic field - meaning it must be negative.

Let's hope that the following CMEs, which are pancaked behind, will have some negative Bz.

It's either very late or the energy was directed above Earth. The original forecast predicted the current Kp to be ~6, but it's about 1 right now. Though the forecast said it could be as much as 8 hours late, it's starting to look like it'll be even later. It all adds up to a west coast show if it arrives 8-12 hours late.
