A jornada com o #openSUSE #Leap 16 não começou exatamente suave, mas consegui fazer uma série de ajustes depois de atualizar do 15.6.

Apesar de ter dado uma chance para o #GNOME 48, considerei que a situação da versão estabilizada não era das melhores. Foi difícil não notar o abismo entre ele e o GNOME que eu tenho no #Fedora #Silverblue. Resultado: voltei correndo para o Xfce e o X11 e adicionei uma trava para banir o Wayland.

Como há menos pacotes, precisei empacotar o tema Skeuos via OBS e estou tentando subir outro tema de ícones também. O Greybird é cansativo demais.

Indispensável ter o #Nix da Determinate Systems para não abusar do OBS. Eu rodo uma série de coisas efemeramente via nix-shell.

O #Steam funcionou via #Flatpak, mas devido ao meu particionamento mais complexo, precisej de um bind mount. Sem apelar para LLMs, acho que não teria conseguido desembaraçar.

Testei o Grist para sondar se o #Podman funciona. Usando :Z no caminho exportado para o contêiner, parece funcionar.

Finalmente, #VirtualBox funcionou, bem como o #Wine (Q4Wine de frontend rodando via Nix).

No geral, jamais recomendaria para iniciantes. E com o Cockpit substituindo o #YaST2, pior ainda.

Oder ich pack da gleich #NixOS wie auf dem Server drauf 😎 (wobei ich glaube auf dem Desktop taugt das nix)

Ich habe tatsächlich wie auf meinem Desktop auch #Fedora #Silverblue installiert. Auf meinem Hauptrechner läuft das jetzt seit gut einem Jahr und ich bin bisher ziemlich zufrieden damit. Mal sehen, wie es sich auf dem Chromebook schlägt. Das hat zwar nur 4 GB RAM, aber für meinen Einsatzzweck sollte das reichen.

Auf #bootc habe ich übrigens auch schon umgestellt, obwohl das wohl offiziell erst ab Fedora 45 der Standard werden soll.

after #Silverblue => Bluefin-dx rebase the #bluefin #vscode shows an UI with monospace fonts. This does not occur in a fresh VM install of Bluefin. AFAIK vscode does not allow to change fonts of UI. Any ideas...? 🤔

Project #Bluefin just revved to #Fedora 44 and #GNOME 50. Now's a good time to jump into the immutable/atomic Linux pool. Bluefin is a lot more forward thinking than I am. That's one of the reasons I've stuck with it this year. Calling Bluefin #Silverblue with a whole lot of batteries included wouldn't be wrong. Taking a look at #Bazzite (#Fedora Atomic based distribution set up for running Steam) based on a colleague who recently tried it to replace a Windows gaming setup..
It has a few download options depending on your video cards (NVidia GTX9xx/10xx vs RTX for example require a separate download). [EDIT: Seems it doesn't have acceleration for the old ones]
If you're running an existing Atomic Fedora such as #Silverblue it should be possible to rebase directly onto Bazzite ...

Finally installed the finale OS for my parents #framework12 laptops.

Went with #Fedora #workstation . I was originally planning to install #silverblue , but printing support in flatpaks is too flaky from my tests, and that's one thing they do often. So workstation it is 🤞
