The #bazzite live desktop had some hardware info (CPU, RAM, nvme devices) right on the desktop at the top right. No live updates, just some static text. I'm trying to get that same info now that I have installed it, but I can't figure out how ...

Opening that dragon egg I was gifted! No Man's Sky ofc!

A day late for #DIDit but I installed #bazzite Linux today on my #gaming PC.
Dual boot to Windows still works, thanks to @WenAstar and @mdione for tips and l encouragement in that regard.
Had some issues with the existing Steam library, because it was NTFS and mounted wrong. #StardewValley worked anyway, but #Dorfromantik and #Enshrouded needed the correct mount options.
Looking forward to not having to resort to WSL anymore when I want to do some programming on that PC.
Linux 7.0 - kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git - Linux kernel source tree

Currently setting up a simple dev environment on my Bazzite box with distrobox.

Will report how it goes here.

The goal: Set up a ruby/jekyl environment.

#bazzite

It is surprisingly difficult to install #Bazzite across multiple disks and have separate mount points for each one, i.e. having the home directory be on a separate disk than the system itself

The new Anaconda installer doesn't even offer btrfs as a file system in the partition editor??? But Bazzite requires btrfs, so choosing anything else will bork the install

Bewildering…

This week's Linux and FOSS news:

LINUX NEWS

Manjaro lead dev plans to implement age verification, other team members don't:
https://forum.manjaro.org/t/will-manjaro-implement-age-verification/186816
(Aragorn for Manjaro lead! lol)

Solus says they don't have plans to implement anything, but aren't sure if the laws affect them, they are monitoring the situation:
https://getsol.us/2026/04/solus-and-age-verification/

Vipnix (a Gentoo > Funtoo > Macaroni-based, Systemd-free distro) rejects implementing age verification, excludes Brazil (their own country!) and California:
https://vipnix.com.br/site/livecd-vipnix/
https://github.com/BryanLunduke/DoesItAgeVerify/pull/73
(They are pretty brave that despite being a Brazilian company, they decided not to comply, respect to them. Idk if I would personally trust them though, because they include some Google and Cloudflare stuff in their website, but their stance is respectable regardless)

Mobian will do whatever upstream Debian does:

I made an age attestation/verification tracker to track which FOSS OSes (Linux, BSD, others) comply with the laws, which oppose:

Will Manjaro implement age verification?

I would like to know if Manjaro will implement any age verification code into their distribution?

Manjaro Linux Forum

One of the main reasons I don’t tend to pick up my #ROGAlly running #Bazzite to play games as often as I’d like is because whenever I run a game, it seems to take forever whilst “Processing Vulkan shaders”. Just defeats the point of picking it up to play a game quickly.

Does this happen to anyone on #SteamDeck? Wondering if it’s a Bazzite specific thing or just Linux in general.
