Ooo!!! I got something for you!! Spacebar.chat is a fucking great open source re-implimintation of Discord that works really well already! I talked to the devs and they're opposed to AI as well so no issues there. I think I suggested it for Starlight's No-AI list, it just hasn't been added yet.
I've been trying so hard to get more people over there, it kicks ass.

Remy RoseI dunno nothin' about nothin', but from trying out almost all the Discord alts that have popped up, I feel like something we're not supporting nearly enough is a shared protocol for them to use. One that's better than the Matrix protocol. So far I don't think any of the alts are particularly federated or e2ee, right? So maybe we could throw some development/documentation/translation/monetary support towards PolyProto?

If you don't know, Spacebar is an open source, self-hostable Discord alternative. Their intention is to replicate Discord's API and user experience.

Came across this absolutely fascinating rundown on keyboards, but specifically the biggest key of them all, the SPACEBAR and how stabilizing it led a machinist down the rabbit hole, which I'm seemingly now looking out of.
