I dunno nothin' about nothin', but from trying out almost all the Discord alts that have popped up, I feel like something we're not supporting nearly enough is a shared protocol for them to use. One that's better than the Matrix protocol. So far I don't think any of the alts are particularly federated or e2ee, right? So maybe we could throw some development/documentation/translation/monetary support towards PolyProto?

For anyone like me that only uses discord to talk to their friends and game/stream. I am selfhosting this for me and my buddies to game / stream. Not hard to set up and does the basics great. Set it up for your own small community. Not affiliated at all, was made by a redditor, and when I tested it it worked great
