The Zeyada Family is a big, close and loving family. All of my brothers and their spouses joined forces and they were able to buy a very big house where we could all live together. It was a big house in #Rafah, the city furthest south in the #Gaza Strip, just next to the Egyptian border. It was a house full of love, children’s toys, delicious smells from cooking, secret corners, comfortable seats, and happy memories.

On #ThisDayInHistory in 1956, during the #SuezCrisis, #IDF troops massacred between 111 and 200 #Palestinians in the city of #Rafah in the #GazaStrip. They were lined up at a UN school, interrogated, then shot and thrown into a mass grave. There remains no justice for this event.

Today in Labor History November 12, 1956: In the midst of the Suez Crisis, over 100 Palestinian refugees were killed in Rafah by Israel Defense Forces after they invaded the Gaza Strip. Israel has neither denied nor acknowledged wrongdoing. Palestinians maintain that all resistance had ceased when the killings took place. Dozens of summary executions of Palestinian prisoners occurred, and up to 1,200 civilians were killed by the IDF in this four-month period of Israeli rule. The Suez Crisis began when Israel, followed by France and the UK, invaded Egypt and the Gaza Strip, in order to depose Gamal Nasser, and regain control over the Suez Canal, which Nasser had nationalized. Nasser was a leading figure in the secular, anti-imperialist, pan-Arabist movements of the day.

Gaza is under a ceasefire, which Israel has violated many times since its recent start.

As usual Israel is attempting to over step the details of this ceasefire and the IOF have encircled Rafah in an attempt to eliminate all Al Qassams Brigade fighters in the area.

Hamas says the defenders of Gaza will never give up their arms because Palestinians have a right to defend themselves from a genocide.
