I still have that magic positive hopeful optimistic revolutionary feeling whenever I boot an open source OS, watching the init message pass by, or launch an open source application.

That feeling was strong in the late 1990s when I couldn't afford proprietary tech. It waned in the 2000s. But is now back really strong, in today's world of surveillance, enshittification and technofascism.
