#Iran Foreign Minister and #Qatari envoy reportedly worked late into Wednesday night over agreement

Key issues: Release of frozen Iranian assets, management of reopened #StraitOfHormuz, and Iran nuclear program

But Iran says it has not yet agreed to any document or memorandum of understanding w US

Ceasefire confirmed but Hezbollah threatens: "If you bomb Beirut, we will strike Haifa and Tel Aviv"

Israel and Lebanon have agreed to renew their fragile truce and establish a series of pilot security zones within Lebanon, from which Hezbollah militants would be banned. In a joint statement released after the fourth round of U.S.-mediated talks at the State Department, the two parties said the truce “is conditional on the complete cessation of hostilities by Hezbollah and the withdrawal of all Hezbollah elements” from areas south of the Litani River. It was not immediately clear how the security zones would be established, but the agreement stipulates that the Lebanese army would assume full control of those areas. “These steps will allow progress towards a global peace and security agreement,” the statement read. “All parties reaffirmed that the future of relations between Israel and Lebanon must be decided by the two sovereign governments. They rejected any attempt, by any state or non-state actor, to hold the future of Lebanon hostage.” The latter refers to Iran, which supports Hezbollah and has insisted that Israeli attacks on Lebanon be halted as part of a provisional agreement with the United States to end the conflict with Iran. Hezbollah is not part of the talks between Israel and Lebanon.

Meanwhile, a senior Hezbollah official threatened Israel, stating that if the IDF were to renew its attacks on Beirut, the militant organization would launch retaliatory attacks against cities in central Israel such as Haifa and Tel Aviv. This was written by the Jerusalem Post. In an interview with the Qatari daily Al Araby, Hezbollah’s deputy secretary-general, Mahmoud Kamati, said that “The Dahiyeh equation against settlements in the north cannot be accepted in any way.” “It is impossible that bombardments towards the north cease in exchange for Dahiyeh’s non-aggression,” he added. “From the outset, the campaign is in full swing and the horizon is open.” Kamati instead threatened that the “equation” would be between Dahiyeh and Beirut on one side, and Haifa and Tel Aviv on the other.

Iran, talks are underway: US raid on launch bases. And Israel strikes Hezbollah.

Tension levels are rising again in the Middle East following the United States’ launch this morning of “self-defense” attacks against Iranian missile launch sites and ships in the Strait of Hormuz, despite the ceasefire in effect.

Tehran strongly condemned the US raid and continued “illegal and unjustified actions.” The Islamic Republic promises not to let these actions go unpunished, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abolfazl Shekarchi clarified that any new aggression will receive a “much more severe” response intended to extend beyond the region. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also stated that “the region’s territories will no longer serve as a shield for American bases.” Conversely, the Revolutionary Guard (Pasdaran) then claimed to have shot down a US drone and announced that they had fired on an F-35 fighter jet.

Meanwhile, optimistic talks are emerging regarding the negotiation issue. The Iranian delegation in Doha speaks of optimism, and President Masoud Pezeshkian even stated, during a phone call with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, that Tehran is ready to achieve what he called “a dignified framework” to end the war and the current regional tensions.

The issue of uranium enrichment remains central. President Donald Trump wants “it to be immediately handed over to the United States to be returned home and destroyed or, preferably, in collaboration and coordination with Iran, destroyed on site or in another acceptable location, with the Atomic Energy Commission, or its equivalent, present as a witness to this process and this event.”

The front is undergoing rapid evolution, while on the other side tensions continue in Lebanon, where the Israeli army has continued raids against Hezbollah’s militant Shia groups and launched ground operations beyond the “red line.” “We are intensifying our operations,” said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “The IDF is operating with significant forces on the ground and taking control of strategically dominant positions. We are strengthening the security buffer zone to protect the communities of northern Israel.”
