Agi: Prima petroliera a Cuba dalla caduta di Maduro

AGI - Una petroliera battente bandiera russa ha raggiunto Cuba dopo che il presidente degli Stati Uniti Donald Trump le ha permesso di rompere il blocco dei carburanti imposto dalla sua amministrazione all'isola, in un momento in cui la crisi energetica sull'isola si sta aggravando. Il ministero dei trasporti russo ha affermato che la petroliera Anatoly Kolodkin, con a bordo quasi 730.000 barili di petrolio, è arrivata lunedi' al porto di Matanzas, a Cuba.
Il portavoce del Cremlino Dmitry Peskov ha confermato l'arrivo della nave a Cuba. Alla domanda se gli Stati Uniti avessero acconsentito al passaggio della petroliera, Peskov ha risposto: "Per quanto riguarda la parte americana, posso solo confermare che la questione è stata effettivamente sollevata in anticipo durante i contatti con le nostre controparti statunitensi".
Negli ultimi mesi Washington ha intensificato la pressione su Cuba, interrompendo le forniture dal suo principale fornitore di petrolio, il Venezuela, e minacciando altri fornitori con dazi aggiuntivi, definendo L'Avana "una minaccia straordinaria". Il blocco delle forniture di petrolio ha causato continui blackout elettrici e accumulo di rifiuti nella capitale, mentre gli ospedali faticano ad accogliere pazienti e a mantenere aperte le sale operatorie. A bordo dell'Air Force One, Trump ha confermato che la nave era diretta verso il Paese caraibico.
"Abbiamo una petroliera là fuori. Non ci dispiace che qualcuno carichi una nave, perchè anche loro devono sopravvivere", ha detto ai giornalisti. "Se un Paese vuole inviare del petrolio a Cuba in questo momento, non ho problemi. Preferisco lasciarlo entrare, che si tratti della Russia o di chiunque altro, perchè la gente ha bisogno di riscaldamento, raffreddamento e di tutte le altre cose necessarie", ha aggiunto il presidente.
Cuba ha smesso di ricevere petrolio dal Venezuela, il suo principale fornitore, dopo che gli Stati Uniti hanno catturato il presidente Nicolas Maduro a gennaio.
Le spedizioni da altri paesi, come il Messico, sono state successivamente interrotte dopo che l'amministrazione Trump ha minacciato di imporre dazi aggiuntivi sui paesi che fornivano greggio direttamente o indirettamente. First oil tanker to Cuba since Maduro’s fall

An oil tanker flying the Russian flag has reached Cuba after the U.S. President Donald Trump allowed it to break the fuel embargo imposed by his administration on the island, at a time when the energy crisis on the island is worsening. The Russian Ministry of Transport stated that the oil tanker Anatoly Kolodkin, carrying almost 730,000 barrels of oil, arrived Monday at the port of Matanzas, Cuba.

The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the arrival of the ship in Cuba. When asked if the United States had consented to the passage of the tanker, Peskov replied: “As for the American side, I can only confirm that the issue was actually raised in advance during contacts with our American counterparts.”

In recent months Washington has intensified pressure on Cuba, disrupting supplies from its main supplier, Venezuela, and threatening other suppliers with additional tariffs, labeling Havana “an extraordinary threat.” The fuel supply blockade has caused continuous power outages and waste accumulation in the capital, while hospitals struggle to accommodate patients and keep operating rooms open. On board Air Force One, Trump confirmed that the ship was heading to the Caribbean country.

“We have an oil tanker out there. We don’t mind someone loading a ship, because they too must survive,” he told reporters. “If a country wants to send oil to Cuba at this time, I have no problems. I prefer it to enter, whether it’s Russia or anyone else, because people need heating, cooling, and all the other necessities,” added the president.

Cuba has ceased receiving oil from Venezuela, its main supplier, after the United States captured President Nicolas Maduro in January.

Shipments from other countries, such as Mexico, were subsequently interrupted after the Trump administration threatened to impose additional tariffs on countries that supplied crude oil directly or indirectly. The blockade has caused increasingly widespread and prolonged power outages and, as a result, has impacted both the economy and services, from hospitals to public transportation.
