Napoli, 14 mag. - (Adnkronos) - Davide Ballerini ha vinto in volata oggi giovedì 14 maggio la sesta tappa del Giro d'Italia 2026, la Paestum-Napoli di 141 km e diventa il primo italiano a vincere in questa edizione della corsa rosa. Il corridore dell'Astana si impone davanti al belga Jasper Stuyven (Soudal Quick-Step) e al francese Paul Magnier (Soudal Quick Step). Brutta caduta nel curvone finale che vede coinvolti alcuni corridori della Unibet Rose Rockets, la squadra che più stava dettando il ritmo, tra di loro anche il velocista olandese Dylan Groenewegen.
Il portoghese Afonso Eulalio (Bahrain Victorious) conserva la maglia rosa di leader della classifica generale con 2'51" sullo spagnolo Igor Arrieta (Uae team Emirates Xrg). Domani settima frazione con partenza da Formia e arrivo in salita sul Blockhaus dopo 244 km.
"Pensavo di poter vincere una tappa del Giro, ma certamente non questa e non in questo modo. Oggi il nostro velocista era Matteo Malucelli, ma quando abbiamo affrontato l'ultima curva ho visto due corridori cadere. Mi hanno detto di provarci. Speravo che il traguardo arrivasse in fretta, ma era ancora piuttosto lontano ed ero al limite. Fortunatamente ce l'ho fatta. Finalmente ho vinto una tappa del Giro d'Italia! È molto importante perché lavoriamo tantissimo per questo e ci sono sempre dei problemi, ma il giorno in cui non te lo aspetti arriva, ed è bellissimo", ha commentato Davide Ballerini dopo la vittoria.
"Indossare la Maglia Rosa significa tantissimo. Oggi ce la siamo goduta molto come squadra, anche il nostro direttore sportivo con la vettura numero 1 in corsa. Vedere gli altri felici ha reso felice anche me. Era la giornata giusta, con una tappa per velocisti, per vivere l'esperienza della Maglia Rosa. Vedremo giorno dopo giorno come andrà. Spero di avere buone gambe anche domani. Normalmente mi piacciono queste tappe lunghe e dure con arrivo in salita, ma non so cosa aspettarmi", ha detto dal canto suo la maglia rosa Afonso Eulalio.

Naples, May 14 – (Adnkronos) – Davide Ballerini won in a sprint today, Thursday, May 14th, the sixth stage of the 2026 Giro d’Italia, the Paestum-Naples stage of 141 km, becoming the first Italian to win this edition of the “pink” race. The Astana rider prevailed ahead of Belgian Jasper Stuyven (Soudal Quick-Step) and Frenchman Paul Magnier (Soudal Quick-Step). A nasty crash in the final curve involved some riders from Unibet Rose Rockets, the team that had been dictating the pace, including Dutch sprinter Dylan Groenewegen.
Portuguese Afonso Eulalio (Bahrain Victorious) retains the pink jersey as leader of the general classification with 2’51” ahead of Spanish rider Igor Arrieta (Uae team Emirates Xrg). Tomorrow, seventh stage with start from Formia and arrival uphill on Blockhaus after 244 km.
“I thought I could win a stage of the Giro, but certainly not this one and not in this way. Today our sprinter was Matteo Malucelli, but when we tackled the last corner I saw two riders fall. They told me to try. I hoped the finish would arrive quickly, but it was still quite far away and I was at my limit. Fortunately, I made it. Finally, I won a stage of the Giro d'Italia! It’s very important because we work very hard for this and there are always problems, but the day you don't expect it arrives, and it's beautiful,” commented Davide Ballerini after the victory.
“Wearing the Pink Jersey means a great deal. Today we enjoyed it very much as a team, even our team director with car number 1 in the race. Seeing the others happy made me happy too. It was the right day, with a stage for sprinters, to live the experience of the Pink Jersey. We will see day after day how it goes. I hope to have good legs tomorrow as well. Normally I like these long and hard stages with uphill finishes, but I don't know what to expect,” said pink jersey holder Afonso Eulalio on his part.

Agi: Giro d'Italia, primo giorno di riposo. Si riparte da Catanzaro
AGI - Primo giorno di riposo per il Giro d'Italia 2026 che domani ripartirà da Catanzaro. La quarta tappa della Corsa Rosa vedrà i corridori al via nella città calabrese per arrivare a Cosenza dopo 138 km.
La tre giorni in Bulgaria si è chiusa con il dominio della Soudal Quick-Step e della doppia vittoria di Paul Magnier, nella prima e nella terza tappa, con Jonathan Milan beffato proprio sul traguardo di Sofia. La seconda frazione ha invece evidenziato lo stato di forma di Jonas Vingegaard, leader della Visma e grande favorito per la vittoria finale.
La sfida per la maglia rosa
Alla sua prima partecipazione al Giro d'Italia il danese dovrà vedersela con Giulio Pellizzari, speranza azzurra per il podio finale e per un successo che manca ormai dal 2016, quando fu Vincenzo Nibali a chiudere con la maglia di leader sulle spalle.
Le difficoltà della Uae team emirates
Sarà dunque una sfida a due, con la UAE Team Emirates-XRG dimezzata a causa della maxi caduta che ha coinvolto Adam Yates, Jay Vine e Marc Soler e praticamente fuori dai giochi senza uomini di classifica.
Le parole di Vingegaard sulla partenza
Il danese ha comunque criticato in patria la partenza dalla Bulgaria: "Forse sono strade un po' più pericolose rispetto ad altri posti, ma è così'. Tutto sommato, sono contento di come è andata. Avrei evitato volentieri il viaggio. Ho portato la mascherina e il disinfettante per le mani. E non vedo l'ora di tornare in Italia".
La tappa Catanzaro-Cosenza
Domani si riparte da una tappa sostanzialmente piatta per i primi 80 chilometri, dove è stato piazzato lo sprint intermedio, l'unico GPM (seconda categoria) sarà a Cozzo Tunno, una salita lunga 15 chilometri che potrebbe fare selezione oppure favorire le fughe da lontano. Ma nel caso in cui i velocisti dovessero tenere il passo potrebbe esserci l'arrivo in volata.
Lo sguardo alla quinta tappa
Mercoledì, invece, frazione collinare, la Praia a Mare-Potenza di 203 chilometri, altra incognita per gli uomini di classifica che dovranno fare attenzione a eventuali pericoli.

AGI - Guillermo Thomas Silva vince la seconda tappa del Giro d'Italia 2026, la Burgas-Veliko Tarnovo di 221 chilometri, e strappa la maglia rosa a Paul Magnier. Decisivo lo sprint finale, con il corridore uruguaiano della XDS Astana Team che ha anticipato Florian Stork (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) e Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek).
La corsa è stata segnata dalla fuga di Diego Pablo Sevilla e Mirco Maestri del Team Polti VisitMalta; i due battistrada hanno raggiunto un vantaggio di oltre 5 minuti, col gruppo maglia rosa che ha lasciato parecchio spazio prima di iniziare a cucire lo strappo. Il gruppo è tornato compatto a 27 chilometri dal traguardo, subito dopo c'è stata una caduta a causa dell'asfalto scivoloso, coinvolti tanti uomini di classifica (circa 30 corridori) tra cui Santiago Buitrago, Derek Gee e Adam Yates: la corsa è stata neutralizzata per circa due chilometri, poi il gruppo si è spaccato sull'ultima salita di giornata, con la Visma che ha dettato il ritmo in testa.
Gli ultimi chilometri e la vittoria di Silva
A 11 km Jonas Vingegaard ha attaccato, ottima la risposta da parte di Giulio Pellizzari; i due sono stati seguiti da Van Eetvelt. Nell'ultimo chilometro il gruppo è tornato a essere nuovamente compatto; nella volata finale è stato Silva a conquistare la vittoria, terzo posto invece per Giulio Ciccone.
Domani ultima tappa in Bulgaria, la Plovdiv-Sofia di 175 km, poi lunedì il primo giorno di riposo.

The peloton regrouped 27 kilometers from the finish, immediately after which there was a crash due to slippery asphalt, involving many riders in the rankings (around 30 racers) including Santiago Buitrago, Derek Gee and Adam Yates: the race was neutralized for about two kilometers, then the peloton split on the last climb of the day, with Visma dictating the pace at the front.

At 11km Jonas Vingegaard attacked, with Giulio Pellizzari giving an excellent response; the two were followed by Van Eetvelt. In the last kilometer the group returned to being compact again; in the final sprint it was Silva who won the victory, third place instead for Giulio Ciccone.

(Adnkronos) - The first stage of the Giro d'Italia 2026, which started today Thursday, May 8th in Bulgaria (Nesseba-Burgas, 147 km for riders), ended with a group crash just a few hundred meters from the finish line. Paul Magnier, who took out the sprint to the finish and claimed the first pink jersey of the 2026 edition, won his first victory in the race.
Behind the Soudal Quick-Step sprinter were Tobias Lund Andresen (Team Decathlon) and Ethan Vernon (Nsn Cycling Team). Fourth place went to one of the favorites, the Italian Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek).
