(Adnkronos) - La prima tappa del Giro d'Italia 2026, partito oggi giovedì 8 maggio in Bulgaria (Nesseba-Burgas, 147 km per velocisti), si è chiuso con una caduta di gruppo a poche centinaia di metri dall'arrivo. Lo sprint sul traguardo se lo è aggiudicato Paul Magnier, prima maglia rosa dell'edizione 2026, al suo primo successo nella gara.
Alle spalle del velocista della Soudal Quick-Step sono arrivati Tobias Lund Andresen (Team Decathlon) e Ethan Vernon (Nsn Cycling Team). Quarto posto per uno dei favoriti, l'azzurro Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek).
“Sono molto emozionato e orgoglioso della mia performance e di quella del team. E' un'occasione importante per noi, che celebriamo la partnership con Castelli e con una maglia speciale. Adesso la cambierò con quella Rosa. Nel finale volevamo stare davanti il più possibile per evitare cadute, Jasper Stuyven ha fatto un lavoro eccellente in fase di preparazione allo sprint. E' la prima volta che riesco a battere campioni come Milan, sento di aver compiuto uno step importante per la mia carriera. Ho già vestito la Maglia Rosa al Giro Next Gen, adesso tocca al Giro dei “grandi”. Sarà bellissimo domani!”, ha commentato Paul Magnier.

(Adnkronos) - The first stage of the Giro d'Italia 2026, which started today Thursday, May 8th in Bulgaria (Nesseba-Burgas, 147 km for riders), ended with a group crash just a few hundred meters from the finish line. Paul Magnier, who took out the sprint to the finish and claimed the first pink jersey of the 2026 edition, won his first victory in the race.
Behind the Soudal Quick-Step sprinter were Tobias Lund Andresen (Team Decathlon) and Ethan Vernon (Nsn Cycling Team). Fourth place went to one of the favorites, the Italian Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek).

Now I will change it with the Pink jersey. In the final we wanted to stay ahead as much as possible to avoid crashes, Jasper Stuyven did an excellent job in preparing for the sprint.
