#Food . . .

Time to buy some #ham which is on sale at my #FoodMax for 89 cents/pound.

It's their #Easter sale. I don't celebrate Easter but I do eat ham. ๐Ÿ˜‹

Time to stock up & freeze a bunch. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

@MsMerope

#FoodMax is my fave & go-to #supermarket.

Bought 2 pkgs of point cut corned beef (about 3.75# @) for just $1.99/# on St. Patty's Day

I only buy things that spot on sale at #Safeway, #Raleys & #Luckys. Mentioned to you recently, that U bought 4 doz eggs on sale at Raley's for just $10.

Seldom shop at #GroceryOutlet because their product selection is so limited & changes so often but I do buy things there occasionally

The best deal I saw there last was boxed mac & cheese for just $1/box. Bought 5 of them.

#Food . . .

Not that you have to be #Irish but I'm not Irish & I've never "celebrated" #StPatricksDay (not even to bother wearing green) but I'm not one to pass up a bargain & I love me some #CornedBeef & just bought about 8# of the stuff (2 bag limit of nice fatty point cuts) for just $1.99/# on sale at my local #FoodMax today. ๐Ÿ˜Š

There's going to be corned beef & cabbage with horseradish for dinner on St. Patty's Day in the Asian American home tonight. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Some interesting (to me) observations during my last visit (just a few mins ago) to my local discount #Supermarket, #FoodMax

1) They have Boneless New York Strip Steaks on sale for $7/# but are still asking $9/# for Boneless Chuck. ๐Ÿค”

I'd have bought some of the NY Strip but they cut them too thin (about 1/2" & I prefer them cut 1-1.5#) but I have a lot of NY Steaks still in my freezer & was too lazy to ask them to cut me some special.

2) The price of eggs is dropping.

1 doz large for $1.99 (16.6 cents/@)
1.5 doz large for $2.98 (16.6 cents/@)
5 doz large for $9.88 (16.4 cents/@)

3) Almost all of the produce bag dispensers were empty. Apparently they didn't get the memo that produce bags are exempt from the newly effective law banning plastic CHECK-OUT bags.

Hopefully, they're figure that out but I'll bring some produce bags with me the next time that I visit them in case they don't.

My local discount #SuperMarket #FoodMax (which has the cheapest prices in my area) now wants $8/# for #BeefChuck. which until #Covid never cost more than $4/#. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

On the other hand, they want $9/# for #Salmon and that price hasn't changed much as meat has over the same period of time.

So, while I love eating #meat (my family owned a #MeatMarket until the 1990's & I was raised on #NYStripSteaks), if anything will make me become a #Vegetarian (or at least a #Pescatarian), these ridiculous meat prices will. ๐Ÿ˜ก

Just found a slightly better online deal at #Luckys & #FoodMax (which are affiliated) on #turkey at 35ยข/# (limit 1) good thru 11/18.

Will buy another turkeyat this price at FoodMax on Monday 11/17.

#Inflation #Food #Meat #Seafood

I dropped by #FoodMax, my local discount supermarket, today & noticed that the price for #RedMeat -- beef & pork -- there has gone up dramatically in just a few days since I was last there.

The cheapest beef cuts -- chuck, corned beef & tri-tip --are selling for about $10/# when they use to go for just $3-5#. That's an increase of 200-300%. And pork loin which use to sell for $2-3# is now selling for $6/#. Also a 2-3x increase in price.

While less dramatic, the whole chicken prices have gone up from 99 cent to $1.40/# but even that is a 40% increase. Salmon has also gone up from $9/# to $12/# which is also a 33% increase. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

If nothing else will stop people from eating meat, this most likely will. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

#Food #Inflation

Last stop before heading home this morning was at #FoodMax. FoodMax generally has the lowest prices for food in my area.

Meat & poultry use to be very cheap there but their prices for beef/pork have risen about 100% in the past year to around $9-10/#. That's even for previously "cheap" cuts of meat, like chuck roast. There are times when you can buy NY strip & Ribeye steaks on sale for around $6 which is now less than the cost of chuck & tri-tip.

However, I was able to buy 3# of some "date expiring" chuck on sale for "just" $5/#.

The price for poultry has also risen but not as much. Just to be able to routinely buy leg quarters & whole chickens for 99 cents/# but the best prices currently for whole chickens is $1.30/# & $2/# for leg quarters.

I also use to be able to buy Progresso canned soups (my favorite) for $1.50/can but FoodMax has them "on sale" now for $2.50/can.

Tomorrow I'm going to #Safeway to buy their 8 piece dark meat fried chicken for $5. ๐Ÿ˜‰

#Grocery #Savings #App

I shop at #FoodMax & #Luckys, so I just downloaded the #Flashfood app to see if it actually can save me any $ on anything I want to buy or not.
