When did fried chicken at #KFC get so expensive?🤔

I was in the mood for some & happened to be near a KFC & when I checked the menu board it said that 8 pieces of dark meat only would cost $24.99!!!

WTF??? 😲

The person at the counter tried to convince me to buy a package that included 2 sides & a cake plus 8 pieces of chicken for the same price but I refused. 😠

If they can give me all that extra stuff then they should be able to sell me 8 pieces of chicken only for less.🤷‍♂️

I'll just wait for the next sale at #Safeway & get 8 pieces of dark meat fried chicken for just $5 or go to #Costco to buy a whole rotisserie chicken for the same price. 😎

Shopping at Safeway is always an experience.

This morning, a woman was on her phone, leaning on her cart, as she was walking around, and was bumping into everything because she was more distracted with the phone call.

There was only one checker open, which is typical for the morning. There was however, a long line that formed. Another checker though, who called me by name, opened up a checkstand for me. There are some benefits to getting to know the people that work there 🙂

I overheard the employees complaining that other employees didn't show up yesterday and they weren't unsure some were going to show up today. I've been suspecting it for a while-- they appear to have a staffing problem. I wonder if it's the pay, the hours, management, or something else. Morale seems to be low. There's a part of me that wants to help

Meanwhile I have to head to another store, beucase Safeway didn't have all the items I needed, plus some items are better or less expensive elsewhere. Off, off, I go...

Just can out of canned #corn & don't want to make a trip to #Costco just for that.

So I'm headed back to #Safeway to buy some more 10 cent/ear corn & will cut the kernels off the cobs & freeze & vacuum pack them for later use.

I've noticed that bread purchased from Safeway in the last few months hasn't been fresh-- specifically Wonder Bread.

I suspect they're either selling bread too close to expiration or it's not being stored properly. The latter is likely the case though as I started looking more closely at the dates and still had the problem even when expiration was more than a week away.

Improper storage, such as refrigeration or sitting around too long, can cause the bread to dry and stiffen, which is what I'm experiencing on day one of purchase 😐

I did mention this to my store, however, they seemed indifferent

So I've resorted to buying bread from anyone but Safeway to order achieve better results

I'm not sure if Safeway is having some issues. They do appear to be understocked at times, and there seems to be less people working these days. I guess there could be a problem with Wonder.... but when I purchase from Target, there hasn't been an issue

At Safeway....

Lays chips are $1.99 this week, after being S7-- but I think you have to clip a digital coupon in the Safeway app otherwise it's $4.29. They make you jump through hoops to get the discount. 😐

Get this though-- a 12pk of Pepsi or Coke is $14.43 right now! That's ridiculous. Kroger and Lucky are charging $11.99. It's $8.39 at Target. Amazon has it for $6.97!

NEVER buy anything you can drink at Safeway. They charge you much more than anywhere else.

Just stopped by the HUGE & relatively new #Safeway in Oakley today to pick up a prescription & decided to walk thru this store for the 1st time.

It's no longer St. Patty's day but they were selling pre-packed #CornedBeef for 50% off at $4 instead of $8/pound for both #BottomRound & #FlatBrisket.

Flat brisket is the better & traditional (along with the point) cut to use for corned beef. So, I bought 2 packs of the flat for just $4/# & for a savings of about $24. 😊

In contrast, they had #ChuckRoast ridiculously priced at $13/pound. 🤦‍♂️

So it pays to look for sales & to avoid outrageously priced meat (along with other things) at Safeway (as well as other stores & supermarkets).

This sale was marked as a "Manager's Special" so it may apply to this store only but if you're in the market for some corned beef it would be worth checking to see if the Safeway in your area is currently pricing it similarly (or would be willing to match this price based on this info).
