Dear Friends of Legacy Computing,

I only do basic stuff on a computer. Or try to:

- Finally managed to install #EasyOS 7.3.3
- Installed #Signal and made a call
https://signal.org/download/
- Tried AND FAILED to get Linux running on my olde 32/64 bit computer. Despite persistence. I live to penguinate another day...
- Saved the world. Oh wait... does not want to be saved. Next.
- Been reading the diversity of wonderment that is Mastodon Social Media

Have a great day. Look after yourself and be kind. I try. So much.

Dear Friends of ranting, venting and letting off steam power. Toot, Toot!

Managed to download a much used package. Will now try another. I am using #EasyOS 7.2.3 fresh install as I was forced into a corner as the update did not go as easily as I would have liked.

Just to let you know it takes a while to get used to any #LinuxAudio and I have done my fill of distro hopping and hoping to stick with just a few on USB sticks.

Wishing you all well

Dear Friends of #EasyOS 7.3.2,

- Just upgraded
- Actung (the update button claimed I did not have enough space to upgrade - Oh dear it seems that I was using the OS and downloading extra packages - naughty, naughty lobster - yep sarcasm)
- So... in the end I wiped all my settings and reinstalled - hardly 'easy' but I regularly did this with Puppy Linux
- After an hour and a quarter of farting around. I have installed a browser of my choice. Not Chromium based AND changed the horrific default desktop image and icons. Managing to get to Mastodon for a good old moan...

https://bkhome.org/news/202605/easyos-excalibur-series-version-732-released.html

It has therefore taken me the equivalent of over an hour to boot up a supposed rolling release Operating System (OS).
Admitedly in constant Alpha stage
Fortunately I have others that I don't much like either, such as [well enough wingeing from me]

Good thing I have done my #meditation and #enshittification expectation training...😉

Dear Friends whoo can-can use Mastodon,

1) It took me a while but I am using Mastodon from any hardware/software combination. Even #Windows at the local library.
2) Can I say the same ease of use about my hardware and #software usage? [Clue ~ NO!]
3) For example this morning using three different screen-shot programs I was barely able (eventually successful) to take a partial desktop #screenshot.
4) And so I looked for a new OS. #FreeDOS in #ReactOS maybe? Heavens still not available for every day use after 30 years of development? Wot?
5) #EasyOS developer is asking about what desktop colour scheme people prefer. The choices are all two tone monochrome. We honestly have been using colour monitors for 30 years AND if people want #monochrome they can change to blue and light blue or red and pink. What sort of crazed time wasting is this?

Anyway enough whingeing from me the most terrible person in the #development cycle (an actual end user)

I am now going to finish my herbal tea. Pray to the St of GNU

Dear Friends from #OZ and over the #Rainbow,

After the heartbreaking news of 'the land down under' you can read about the release of #EasyOS 7.3
https://bkhome.org/news/

I had to modify. Too Pink. The possums are by an #Aboriginal woman artist. Still too pink for my tastes. So created my own temp desktop for now.

EDIT: 1. Not possums, 'Eastern Native Cat' or Quoll
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_quoll
2. https://forum.puppylinux.com/viewtopic.php?p=169131#p169131

04:00 AM in #Blighty and so time for nutrition

Have a great day everyone. Be Pink if you wish. Be #free. Offend fascists who are an #offence against all good people.

Well...
Yes thank you!
wAS NOT EXPECTING THAT. Still learning to turn off cap lock. Sorry.
Was in #EasyOS Linux and thought no upgrade will be available but there was just a few button clicks away.

AND (used shift button deliberately this time) AND:

1) Decided to change to the new buckaroo default background. Featuring a giraffe-donkey, cross breed. Took a screen shot with ye olde MTpaint (which I am very familiar with - MT stands for Mark Tyler - the creator) I also swapped the icons from the desktop to the icon bar at the base.

2) Because EasyOS is independently created from 'a land down under' it is very different. Built in containers. Boots securely without password. Uses Devuan packages for those not into compiling. Squash files. Many of ye olde Puppy, mini progs and weird selections. For example you can download the devx.sfs for programming languages such as #Python.
EasyOS runs in ram. Fast. Barry #Kauler likes small and efficient. And Puppy develo-purrs are still providing code with this in mind...

Dear Friends of #Linux USA and #UK,

As we may know:

1) We may soon be illegal #penguins. Luckily 'if the #kids are united they will never be divided'. #Smart kids that is. Also smart SS (Silver Surfers). The ignorant will just be #lemmings to the cliff edge. Poor babas. Stick with Windows and Apple if you can muster no transition planning...

2) We are the coast/ghost in the machine/matrix. Well I tries to be...

3) We are the #future feature. Hopefully.

In other words I am in #EasyOS on my laptop. Using the keypad to navigate and a browser chosen from an array. It is a bang up to date Linux with #Wifi support and #usb

Update:

Sorry about the crappy screenshot. It is actually a jpg I found on the net but the pic is now owned/stolen by Micro-soft-Sith. It'll do
Because I can now just about use my flashdrive persistently on two computers (desktop and laptop). The desktop has ethernet only. The cheap dual processor lenova laptop wifi only.

Yep it all takes me time but the laptop also has a camera and Signal (working)

EasyOS I am pretty sure only works on 64bit processors - mmm I have a completely off grid 32/64bit but pretty sure it will not work on that. Will stick with Puppy Linux for that desktop computer...

Dear Friends of #EasyOS,

Is it easy? Well for me as a long time user... Reasonably. Barry Kauler the creator of EasyOS and Puppy Linux is (this is a good thing) a compulsive over-documenter
https://bkhome.org/news/

For example here is the original explanation of how EasyOS is different
https://web.archive.org/web/20170321170007/http://barryk.org/easy/how-easy-works

Both operating systems have a long history. With much innovation.

Sorry have posted the same pic from yesterday Because accessing images from the internet is no longer possible. Que?
