Fascinating ‘big picture’ read, including: “…right now we are playing out two underlying theories of what constitutes value. In the U.S., we have decided that value is measured by the number of zeroes in a bank account of an oligarch. In China, they have decided that value is measured by the ability to make things people and nations need. We structure our rules differently as a result. In some sense, we are both succeeding at what we put our systems to work for.” And “ In a few years, unless we change strategies and restructure our relationship with finance and China, the U.S. won’t have any industries left. We’ll be a hungry and desperate oligarchy, wondering how we can beg a few more scraps from that high tech nation across the Pacific. I’d prefer to avoid that. Xi Jinping, and most of Wall Street, is fine with it.

“And that’s why the people at the Xi-Trump summit are fine with no outcomes. The status quo, for all those American CEOs and the Chinese leadership, is working out. It’s the rest of us who are in trouble.”

...If #Xi does *not* bide his time and waits until then, it will only be him to blame, because in contrast two the two other authoritarian superpower leaders, ge is *not* a gerontocrat and *can* wait.--As for the other two, their days are very much numbered. Death cannot (yet?) be cheated.

...#GulfWar3 drags on for am extended period of time, they might have to replenish these strategic reserves, before they can launch 🚀 the attack, possibly pushing that armed conflict into the next decade...
Which might even constitute yet another advantage to them, as their military shipbuilding, outstripping any other nations, will lead to yet another "century when the #Chinese navy ruled the seas."1)

Correct. I've been watching this
strategic built-up for several years. It is self-evident that they have been doing so for a disconcerting reason, as all stockpiling leads to additional, "unnecessary" inventory costs. They might not have sent the #US-#Israeli-#Iran #Gulfwar3 coming, but the #Geostratic position they've manoevered themselves Info an excellent strategic position
If I had to guess, it is in preparation for the...

The latest column published by The Economist misses the point and reveals misconceptions and lack of knowledge about the foreign policy of China.

In China's foreign policy, all-weather strategic partnerships, as well as comprehensive strategic partnerships, are about building deep, resilient and stable partnerships covering multiple areas such as trade, economic cooperation, technological cooperation, cooperation on clean energy, infrastructure, research and development. These partnerships are not about establishing military alliances and have no military nature.

Chinese foreign policy follows the "Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence" and non-interventionism is a major principle of China's foreign policy. In addition, China does not join or form military alliances, nor does it sign agreements that impose an obligation on each party to intervene in armed conflicts and wars.

Without a military alliance, security guarantees, and given the principles that guide its foreign policy, China has no obligation or reason to intervene in Venezuela or any other country in the world. No one should expect the Chinese military forces to be sent to participate in armed conflicts.

‘I have to do it’: Why one of the world’s most brilliant AI scientists left the US for China

In 2020, after spending half his life in the US, Song-Chun Zhu took a one-way ticket to China. Now he might hold the key to who wins the global AI race

He’s lying.
How do we know he’s lying?
He’s said something.
China’s been calling too. 🙂 (Another lie, already debunked by China, for those who don’t get humour.)
