Il Gip di Modena ha convalidato oggi 19 maggio il fermo di Salim El Koudri, il 31enne che lo scorso sabato, in pieno centro a Modena, ha travolto con l'auto i passanti per poi scagliarsi contro di loro col coltello. Al termine dell'udienza, la difesa ha annunciato la richiesta di una perizia psichiatrica, mentre il giudice ha ordinato per l'uomo un periodo di osservazione delle sue condizioni mentali, con l'eventuale trasferimento in strutture penitenziarie specializzate.
Restano le accuse di strage e lesioni gravissime, mentre la Procura non ha contestato né l'aggravante del terrorismo né quella dell'odio razziale o della premeditazione. Secondo il difensore Fausto Gianelli, il quadro che emerge sarebbe quello di "una mente profondamente disturbata". Tuttavia, a smontare questa tesi è stato proprio il Gip per il quale non ci sono, per il momento, elementi per ritenere che El Koudri fosse incapace di intendere e volere quando ha commesso il fatto. Anzi, tutt'altro. L'attentatore guidava nella direzione più adatta per colpire il maggior numero di persone possibile. Infatti, come ricostruito, inizialmente ha puntato il marciapiede del lato destro di Via Emilia, dove ha colpito i primi pedoni e una ciclista, e poi si è rimesso in carreggiata. Poi, poiché le persone erano riuscito a schivarlo, il killer ha si è diretto verso il marciapiede del lato sinistro che era in quel momento molto affollato.
Gli investigatori stanno analizzando computer, cellulari, email e profili social del 31enne. Alcuni vecchi messaggi risalenti al 2021, come "Bastardi cristiani di merda voi e il vostro gesù cristo in croce lo brucio", hanno fatto ipotizzare un possibile estremismo religioso. La difesa smentisce, ma le indagini proseguono e al momento tutte le opzioni restano sul tavolo degli inquirenti. Nel frattempo, i feriti continuano a lottare e fra questi c'è anche una turista tedesca che ha subito l'amputazione delle gambe.

Following the hearing, the defense announced the request for a psychiatric examination, while the judge ordered the man to undergo a period of observation of his mental state, with the possibility of transfer to specialized correctional facilities.
The charges of attempted murder and aggravated injuries remain, while the Prosecutor’s Office has not contested either the aggravating factor of terrorism or that of racial hatred or premeditation. According to defense attorney Fausto Gianelli, the picture that emerges is that of “a profoundly disturbed mind.” However, it was precisely the Gip who debunked this theory, stating that there are currently no elements to suggest that El Koudri was unable to understand and intend when he committed the act. Indeed, the opposite. The attacker was driving in the direction most suitable for hitting the maximum number of people possible. Specifically, initially he had aimed at the sidewalk on the right side of Via Emilia, where he hit the first pedestrians and a cyclist, and then got back on track. Then, as the people had managed to dodge him, the killer directed himself towards the left sidewalk, which was at that moment very crowded.
Investigators are analyzing the 31-year-old’s computers, cell phones, emails, and social media profiles. Some old messages dating back to 2021, such as “Bastards of shit Christians you and your jesus christ crucified burned me,” have suggested a possible religious extremism. The defense denies it, but the investigation continues and at the moment all options remain on the table for investigators. In the meantime, the injured continue to fight for their lives, including a German tourist who has undergone amputation of the legs.

E allora come si fa? Elementare Watson: la notizia del nuovo avvocato e dei maxisequestri di device non la si dà (in evidenza c'è solo sul Tempo); in prima il tema di Modena o si rimpicciolisce o non c'è proprio; e poi la si butta su “Salvini cattivo”.

Oh my, what a shame for the “welcoming” left. It wasn’t enough that the email from the future terrorist against the “bastard Christians” came out.
Now it’s coming out that unemployed Salim had 5 phones, 4 computers, 2 hard drives, at least 2 USB flash drives, a tablet, a Playstation, and other accessories seized. More than a hundred handwritten sheets, two diaries, notebooks, plus a ticket with passwords for cryptocurrencies were also found in the house.
And it doesn’t end there: the lawyer is the lawyer for Hannoun’s friends.
So how does that work? Elementary Watson: the news of the new lawyer and the massive seizures of devices isn't given (only on Tempo in the spotlight); the theme of Modena is highlighted first, or it shrinks or there isn't even any; and then it’s tossed around as “Salvini is being evil.”
Here’s Corsera, with the lawyer guaranteeing that the terrorist “doesn’t remember sending the emails.” Il Fatto focuses on the problems with patient care; La Stampa calls Salim’s case a “venting valve,” and then on with Bishop Castellucci and Governor De Pascale singing hymns of welcome. Just a tiny mention on Rep, which tells us that Salim now reads the Bible (now we feel safer). Nothing in the lead on Domani and a little anti-Salvini polemic on page 7.
Let’s hope tomorrow the news disappears completely, murmurs and hopes the single editorial staff.
