I am a plant systematist in Ottawa, Canada, working with crop wild relatives, particularly blueberries and cranberries. I also study invasive species and species at risk, as funding allows. My work combines field work, herbarium research, morphology and conventional and NGS molecular tools.

Outside of work I tinker with electronics (Arduino, Atmel, keyboards) and hand tool woodworking. I am developing a Buddhist meditation practice in an effort to be 10% happier; currently approaching 2%.

If you see this toot (yeah this one right here), can you boost it for me? It will help my new server federate with the wider Mastodon network. 🚀 🙏

Dear #ScienceMasodon,

Do you have personal checklists that you follow during peer review? Things you check first ("red flags") to see if you even need to continue digging into details?
Do you follow certain guidelines?

How much time do you spend on average, let's say per page? Like a rough educated guess?
