A highlight for me was visiting this black beach at dark and just after sunrise over a couple of days during my road trip around Iceland in Winter.

Known as Breiðamerkursandur in Icelandic, Diamond Beach takes its name from the chunks of pristine ice scattered across the black volcanic sand and glistening like giant, uncut diamonds.

As the ice melts and new chunks are washed ashore, this place can look completely different from one day to the next.

Meet the punk rocker of the tit family, the crested tit.

In the UK, these charming but feisty characters are only found in the Scottish Highlands.

This individual made my day when it posed in a near perfect manner, looking right down my lens.

This was from a day out, almost a decade ago, with my good friend Neil McIntyre.

Dervaig on the Isle Of Mull is quite a sheltered location, so when the tide is in, the loch can turn into a mirror.

On this occasion, as the sun was setting, it reflected all the colours from the clouds and sky above.

This was my view looking towards the inlet of Loch Cuin, one calm evening in May last year.

Today's is one of my favourites from over a decade ago, at a site run by Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, and is of a common kingfisher.

We watched this male fishing in the small lake for over an hour. Mostly he preferred diving from posts at the water's edge, but when he flew up into this willow tree, I made sure I got the shot.
