OK, not the best pictures, but I did not want to scare it away by moving closer. A Kingfisher! Not too many fish in our pond and I don't think (hope?) it'll eat my newly introduced pool cleaning crew. I think I saw it eat a water beetle of some sort. Stoked it found its way to our (2y old) pond. Maybe I should have placed a nest box for them after all...

📝 Finally I was able to photograph a kingfisher. I really like the colours of this "diamond".
ℹ️ The kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) grows up to 19.5 cm and has a wingspan of up to 25 cm. It feeds mainly on fish, but also on insects and tadpoles.
