#photography #photograph #photo After I retired in 2016, I roamed rural #Georgia for five years with my camera and took pictures. Here is image number 346 from the series. 📍 Newnan, Georgia

pink flower was a big draw... hummingbirds have good eyesight & i think they noticed that one of the resort staff was hitting this photogenic flower from time to time with a syringe of sugar water because birbs came from all over

for this image of the white-booted rackettail clutching on to drink deep, i tried some split toning to give a more filmy feel...

Waves on the water: Saturday W36Y5

Edna Andrade (1917-2008) was one of the early practitioners of "Op art" (Optical art, or art employing optical illusions; this was typically related to distorted abstract geometrical patterns as opposed to older trompe l'oeil (fool the eye) work that was representational as opposed to abstract.) This is not a top view, as I do quite often, the camera is level with the ground here, showing the aftermath of a small landslide in the forest. I don't know what these rocks are or why they're arranged like this (there are two abandoned iron ore mines nearby). Maybe the #geology crowd can chime in. 😉

I don't think I'm going to do a "full" restoration of this image, but it seemed a shame to leave it in the state it was in. Scanned from the original (broken) 8x10 glass negative and partially restored (no AI used). A very early (1915ish) women's high school basketball team. It came with a piece of paper indicating it was from Vermont, but didn't specify a school. Burr and Burton Academy is my best guess... but I could be wrong (and it may not even be from Vermont). If anyone has better info, please share!
