I am taking part in a #Charity #fundraising event today. I've been 'arrested' for being too much fun in the classroom teaching #law to #undergraduates πŸ˜„

We are fundraising for Home Start, a wonderful charity providing support for #Suffolk families.

Please donate to my 'bail' fund if you can!

@edutooters just to show my feelings about this summer πŸ˜‚

I was thrilled yesterday to attend the 1st Birthday celebration for the Innovation Lab at the University of Suffolk. It was great to network with local innovators, and hear about all the successes had to date.

Pictured are speeches from DVC Gups Jagpal, Emma Wakeling (Head of Business and KE), and Peter Basford, Business Growth Coaches Network.

My webinar 'Minions and the Makers Movement: Making Complex Learning Environments More Accessible' is now available to watch on Youtube.

I cover some important points about #pedagogy, #engagement and #technology in the classroom, as well as demonstrating how fun this can be!

If you have any questions, let me know in the comments below. Thanks to University of Suffolk for giving me the chance to talk about something I am so passionate about.

Minions and the Makers Movement: Making Complex Learning More Accessible β€” 11 January 2023

Welcome! You are invited to join a webinar: Minions and the Makers Movement – Making Complex Learning More Accessible by Dr Ruth Flaherty. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the webinar.

How many times have we all struggled to teach complicated subjects, drawing out complex 2D diagrams on whiteboards or spent time in class talking through complex analogies? This seminar will demonstrate the benefits of bringing the Makers Movement into the classroom, specifically looking at innovative uses of 3D printed teaching artefacts to make complex learning topics more accessible. This session will show the educational benefits of using 3D printing in learning, drawing on recent studies in computer assisted learning and additive manufacturing. I will build on previous sessions such as Dr Willis’ session on zombies as disruptive teaching mechanisms, and introduce the many opportunities we have to bring creativity into our teaching.

Back at work this week!

I will be giving a #learning and #teaching seminar next week (11th January 2023) through the University of Suffolk on #creativity #engagement and #technology in the classroom, titled 'Minions and the Makers Movement - Making Complex Learning More Accessible'.

I will be explaining how I have used #3DPrinting and other creative arts to increase understanding of complex areas of the #law - in areas such as #IP, #Trusts and #Wills and #Probate. Come along to hear about the advantages this new tech brings - and how badly I draw things on a whiteboard!
