The solution (for Californian law and everyone) is to stop using it. The word "hallucination" just means "noticeably bad". The output always has this risk because it is built to offer random suggestions, not deterministic, reliable information. It is easier to make an AI like this than to find facts or train a human who cares: that's why sellers of AI like it. We don't need a never-ending profit-orientated experiment at everyone's expense to know this. But it continues while laziness, greed and ignorance persist in the legal services market.

The unavoidable need for it to be "checked" by humans is the ultimate sign of this scam. The fact that it is not checked in the legal examples discussed shows how little the lawyers using it actually care. Not all lawyers are this lazy, and some will run away from AI knowing they would never exchange their skills or ability to use human insights.
