Researchers at University College London and Brunel University London have developed a custom aluminum alloy that outperforms industry-standard materials in metal 3D printing. Using novel real-time imaging, they watched how it forms layer by layer at microscopic scale. The alloy could benefit aerospace, automotive and biomedical manufacturing where lightweight components must meet demanding structural requirements. https://3dprintingindustry.com/news/a-new-aluminum-alloy-is-pushing-the-limits-of-3d-metal-printing-250362/ #3Dprint #3Dprinting #Materials #UCL
A New Aluminum Alloy Is Pushing the Limits of 3D Metal Printing - 3D Printing Industry

Researchers at University College London (UCL) and Brunel University London have developed a custom aluminum alloy that outperforms industry-standard materials in metal additive manufacturing. The researchers also used a novel combination of real-time imaging techniques to watch exactly how it forms, layer by layer, at the microscopic level. The implications reach well beyond the lab, […]

Absolutely love to see #Recyclingfabrik being able to expand their line-up of filaments, even if it's still "just" rPLA and rPETG right now. Proves all people wrong who still believe industrial filament recycling to not be possible.

Hope they'll eventually figure out rABS and rASA as well, and/or perhaps a regional expansion to outside of Europe. that would be just fantastic.
(And perhaps create a Fedi account)

Australian AML3D has secured a 1.84 million USD contract to produce five replacement components for US Navy submarines via BlueForge Alliance. The parts will address obsolescence issues in active vessels, demonstrating 3D printing's growing role in naval sustainment. https://3dprintingindustry.com/news/aml3d-lands-us-navy-contract-for-obsolete-submarine-components-250387/ #3Dprint #3Dprinting #Defense #AML3D
AML3D Lands US Navy Contract for Obsolete Submarine Components - 3D Printing Industry

Australian metal additive manufacturing company AML3D Limited has secured an order to produce five high-demand, non-safety critical replacement components for use in active US Navy submarines. Valued at approximately AU$2.61 million (US$1.84 million), the agreement was signed with BlueForge Alliance, a US nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening and sustaining the US Navy’s Submarine Industrial Base.

Another 3D printer somehow found its way into my life…

This poor little machine spent years untouched, still in its original box, exiled on top of a shelf like a forgotten relic.

Now it’s finally free — and looking for a loving new home where it can actually do what it was born to do: print questionable upgrades

This has been one of my major issues #3Dprinting while watching prints for bed separation with ABS.

What's worse is when there is both a chamfer and bed separation.

I look forward to switching back to PLA, which doesn't have the heat resistance I need right now, but at least warps far less.

Stratasys Direct has been selected by the US Department of War for its JAMA IV Pilot Parts Program, which aims to accelerate the qualification and deployment of 3D printed parts across military platforms and systems. https://www.tctmagazine.com/stratasys-to-support-qualifcation-deployment-of-3d-printed-parts-across-military-platforms-via-us-dow-contract/ #3Dprint #3Dprinting #Defense #Stratasys
Stratasys to support qualifcation & deployment of 3D printed parts across military platforms via US DOW contract

"Stratasys Direct already ships over 100,000 parts annually to the defence industry, and programs like JAMA will accelerate the qualification of parts so organisations can deploy them faster across operational platforms."

BASF has opened the world's first production plant for 3D printed catalysts at its Ludwigshafen site in Germany. The X3D technology creates catalysts with optimised geometries that reduce pressure drop while increasing active surface area. One customer saved 100,000 USD per year in a sulfonation plant. https://www.3dnatives.com/en/basf-production-plant-3d-printed-catalysts-30032026/ #3Dprint #3Dprinting #BASF #Chemistry
