‘Fuck you, Bambu’: How one private message could change the face of 3D printing

The open-source 3D printing community is lining up to fund a war against Bambu Lab, after it threatened a developer who modified its open-source code.

Additive manufacturing has reached a turning point. Xometry Europe reports that modern powder bed fusion and post-processing now deliver consistent mechanical properties across batches, making 3D printing viable for serial production. Tooling lead times of up to 12 weeks are eliminated, with hundreds to thousands of parts delivered in days, not months. https://3dprint.com/326194/why-additive-has-finally-earned-its-place-on-the-production-line/ #3Dprint #3Dprinting #Manufacturing
Why Additive Manufacturing Has Finally Earned Its Place on the Production Line - 3DPrint.com | Additive Manufacturing Business

For years, the conversation around additive manufacturing followed a predictable script. Engineers would acknowledge its usefulness for prototyping – faster iterations, cheaper design validation, no tooling to worry about –...

Well, if nothing else, my unexpected (and generally unwanted) time off certainly is giving me time to get nerdy with my 3D printer. I've been tweaking filament profiles for various types of them all week. It's mostly fun, but I tend to like this kind of thing anyway. I've nailed down TPU settings and working on tweaking PETG now, which just refused to stick to the bed.

The Prusa Core ONE+ INDX upgrade looks very cool. I still have my very first printer, the Creality Ender 3v2 and I want to upgrade. I think the Core ONE+ will fit the bill for me.

I thought about the Bambu Labs H2C, but they seem to be trying to become a terrible company and who knows what they will do to their customers in the future. Probably brick people's printers for being "too old" like Amazon is doing with the kindles today.
