Borowitz Report 11/11/25 SATIRE
TRUMP REFUSES TO PARDON TURKEY AFTER IT FAILS TO BRIBE HIM (SATIRE)

#Joke #Humour

I had a call from a scammer the other day

Me: “Hello.”

NOT-Microsoft support: “Hello. This is Bob Bobson from Microsoft Support. We are seeing a lot of virus activity from your device.”

Me: “Oh no. My device? Are you sure?”

NOT-Microsoft support: “Oh yes, we have many reports.”

Me: “Oh jeez. How can I fix it?”>;
NOT-Microsoft support: “It’s OK sir. We can help you right now. Are you in front of your device sir?”

Me: “Yes. I was just about to use it. I’m glad you called.”

NOT-Microsoft support: “Yes sir, we are going to help you. Can you please push the Start button?”

Me: “I think it's already on.”

NOT-Microsoft support: “Okay, sir. Now you want to click on Control Panel.”

Me: “I don’t see that.”

NOT-Microsoft support: “Do you see a bunch of information above the Start button?”

Me: “Yes.”

NOT-Microsoft support: “That is your Control Panel.”

Me: “Wow, I didn’t realize it had a name.”

NOT-Microsoft support: “Yes sir, now press on Internet Options.”

Me: “Yeah, I definitely don’t see any Internet options. I don’t think I purchased that feature. This is just a cheap one.”

NOT-Microsoft support: “They all have the Internet sir. Press the Start button again.”

Me: “OK, it’s the same as before.”

NOT-Microsoft support: “That’s OK sir. We are going to restart your device. Can you please turn it off?”

Me: “Ummm…I don’t know how. I’ve never turned it off. Since I bought it, it just kind of stays on all the time.”

NOT-Microsoft support: “There must be an off button on your device. How do you stop it when it’s running?”

Me: “In those cases, I usually press the big button.”

NOT-Microsoft support: “OK sir. Please press that button.”

Me: “Ok.”

NOT-Microsoft support: “Is your device off?”

Me: “No. The door popped open.”

NOT-Microsoft support: “Door? Is there a disc inside the door?”

Me: “No, there’s a burrito.”

NOT-Microsoft support: “Why is there a burrito in your computer?”

Me: “Computer? I thought you said this was microwave support.”

🚨 BREAKING #Google just activated #Gemini on #Gmail - without asking you.

Turn it off now; here's how!

✊️ Fight AI & fight Google

You have to manually turn off Smart Features in the Setting menu in TWO locations.

Very noteworthy how most of these professions are typically female-gendered in US culture.

Also, it completely misses the point that a profession is an occupation REGULATED BY A STATUTORY BODY with specific privileges and responsibilities defined by law."Professional" has been devalued in recent decades by overuse, but do you really want to be treated by an unregulated doctor?

Whatever idiot drafted this guideline is clearly not a member of a regulated profession.

Stop the slop.

DOJ is apparently ready to pay $50 MILLION in restitution to QAnon conspiracy theorist and convicted felon Michael Flynn.

Flynn pled guilty to lying to the FBI and committed arguably treasonous acts. But he gets $50M.

White supremacy is when a convicted white man can get restitution for committing crimes but innocent Latino Americans are getting tortured and deported on the mere accusation that they're undocumented. Horrific.

When Republicans in their 30s get caught supporting Hitler in a group chat, conservatives call them “kids.”

When underage girls get sexually abused by Trump's friends (and probably Trump), conservatives call them “young women.”

The language tells you everything you need to know about GOP morality and family values.

ICE is pulling out of Chicago, for now.

In the process, they created patentently illegal, unconstitutional chaos.

The result? They detained 614 immigrants. Only 16 had any kind of criminal record.

'Worst of the Worst'? DOJ Figures Show 97.4% of 614 Detained Immigrants in Chicago Had No Criminal Record | Common Dreams

Of 614 people on list who may have been unlawfully arrested and detained by federal officials, only 16 had a criminal record of any kind.

Stop the slop.
@georgetakei
Please: Everywhere. Not just all social media.
Especially needed with web search engines where it must be in effect not only on search terms but on the results, too!
@Ulan_KA @georgetakei easy solutions luckily exist already (5000+ users already and growing): https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nogoogleai/
No google Ai search – Get this Extension for 🦊 Firefox (en-US)

Download No google Ai search for Firefox. An extension that disables Google new Ai search.

@d4n2023 @Ulan_KA @georgetakei You can also add this line in your uBlock Origin personal filters:

www.google.*##[data-mcp]:not(:has([data-mcp] [id*="folsrch"])):has([id*="folsrch"])

@cfnnm inspected with browser, or how did you find the "folsrch" element? 😯
@d4n2023 To be honest, I just copied the code from a Reddit thread. Maybe from here: https://www.reddit.com/r/uBlockOrigin/comments/1hx4pe4/how_to_remove_ai_results_in_google_search/ , or maybe from some other thread. I'm not knowledgeable enough to find these kinds of things on my own, sorry 😅.
@georgetakei We really need to re-brand this domain "NI", as in "No Intelligence". Artificial Stupid Slop would be more accurate, that's ASS.
Suck ASS if you want to, I don't.
@georgetakei No - "Exlude AI" would be an Opt-Out. I'd rather prefer a deactivated "allow AI" as Opt-In
@georgetakei Yes, please, that would be lovely to have.
@georgetakei @wordshaper and it needs to be toggled ON by default. No so-called AI unless we ask you to include it!
@georgetakei
AI is the most expensive boondoggle happening today, all because Trump has no idea how it works…or doesn’t. He just knows there’s gold there for him.
@georgetakei Can we have this button in just one place, and everything obeys it?
@georgetakei Eventually it will be realised that AI is the asbestos of the 2000's.
@georgetakei It's like asking "keep the horses!" when you saw the first cars...

@georgetakei sure can. its actually easier to use than a Mac, and its free.

also, if you use qwant search without an account, AI isnt used.

How to Install Linux Mint [The Simplest Way Possible]

Linux Mint is the best Linux distribution for beginners. Learn how to install Linux Mint and make it your main and the only operating system.

It's FOSS
@ghostrunner @georgetakei wow, your Linux Mint manages to block all of the AI slop on every website you browse and in every corporate software anyone could be forced to use by work or school??? I must have missed that setting, can you point it out to me so I can toggle it? Or is this just another Linux Reply Guy post that has very little to do with the post you're replying to?

@georgetakei I like that printables.com has this switch for excluding AI-generated 3D models.

#3dprinting

@georgetakei - Now This Bytton should be in service to turn the annoying AI on all applications.
@georgetakei I don't want to switch anything off. I would prefer no AI by default and switch on if wanted.

@georgetakei Technically, that is a toggle, not a button.

But can we still have it, and have it on as a default?

@georgetakei

It should replace every "Maybe later" button. No, I don't want to be asked later, I want to hide your new shitty feature forever...

@georgetakei Hear hear! If only we could make this a browser setting and have it all set in one fell swoop!
@georgetakei "exclude AI"? The label should be "Include made up data", default off.
@georgetakei
Pinterest without slop, isn't that just about:blank any more?

@georgetakei @pluralistic great!
Ill give you this button as an premium feature, for premium money and itll do premium nothing — except looking fancy!

Deal?

@georgetakei In a code repo at Google somewhere:
if exclude_AI.disabled():
use_AI()
else:
use_AI_anyway()
This as close as we can get right now. Its a huge block list for ublock origin. You just copy and paste a link from the github page into ublocks settings. Its in the instructions. https://github.com/laylavish/uBlockOrigin-HUGE-AI-Blocklist

@georgetakei This idea should be taken seriously. What if it was added as a consent popup like the cookie consent popups? It would be a drag of course, but if the consent was stored in the "for operational purposes" cookie, it would be fine.
@georgetakei Shame for firefox to add opt-OUT AI that can only be disabled in about:config
You meant to just be a simple browser. Just browse the internet and don't bother me with stuff nobody asked for.
@georgetakei
Also can we have decent checkboxes / switches that don't rely on position for on or off, true/false. Current so-called "modern" GUI elements are garbage.
Why a slide switch image for enable/disable checkbox? You tap or click!
@georgetakei I fully expect to see artistic creations of all kinds labeled "No AI Used" in the very near future.
@georgetakei i love the fact that thingiverse has it
@georgetakei @briankrebs in my mind the button is playing „Stop the Slob“ von AIpollo 440 https://song.link/de/i/186059128

@georgetakei I've never seen a button fucking!

@georgetakei Nah. Make AI opt-in not opt-out.

Or even better get rid of it entirely.

@georgetakei why do you all want a button to exclude AI? In that way you accept this kind of intusion in a passive way. It's like a trojan horse/virus - take it or die.

That is NOT acceptable.

The correct way should allways be the other way around: If someone wants to use AI, he/she/they could actively turn it on. That will be a way to speak with customers on eye level. I know, it is hard to understand, but that is how it is.

Please think extra long and extra deep about these Standards and come to your own conclusion ;-)
