Time for a new #introduction after switching servers: I'm a researcher and PhD candidate at the chair of Computational Corpus #Linguistics, Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany. My thesis is on corpus-based discourse analysis, but I tend to be involved in several different projects at any given time. I live with one human and two huge cats, and have taught the latter a few tricks. I'm also transgender and will likely post the occasional thing about that as well.

Next week, we are organising a (German-language) conference on "Discourse Analysis Beyond Big Data". For some time now, there has been a trend in (linguistic) discourse analysis to consult large corpora. Ethnographic, ethnomethodological & praxeological approaches seem to have faded somewhat into the background. We would like to discuss such situated projects and the interface between ethnographic and corpus linguistic approaches.

To add to the above:

Since there is no #algorithm it is really important that you #boost interesting posts by others.

A star (liking) does nothing to help increase a post's visibility beyond the original author's followers.

I know it is strange coming from 🐦, but it really is the only way to increase a post's audience.
