Margaret Hamilton cracked up a live audience sharing how she was cast as the Wicked Witch
I'm having a Hildalemma.
I want to keep writing the story but I don't want it to end - and I'm working up to the end now. 😬
Years ago we daydreamed a fantastical commedia dell'arte scenario where young Dorotea faced trouble at home from the machinations of her clueless father Dottore Gratiano to the unwanted attention of miser Panalone to the greedy vengeance of black widow Vittoria. But when Dorotea flees her home as a tornadic storm hits Venice she becomes lost and dreams of a fantastical pastorale island where everyone looks like someone she knows (with a twist) including an enchantress most WICKED and a not-so-WONDERFUL Meraviglioso Mago di Gozo!
Just thought we'd share this weekend for some reason...

There's an old (ehm) Witch in town. Hilda's 28th (!) story is now available in all the usual places.
"Ferguson and the Suits" is out now.
Read all about it at https://eomail5.com/web-version?p=48d4be30-c221-11f0-8056-e3951e74abb6&pt=campaign&t=1763211058&s=a80bd08315d7e727dcac5eb6cb0527bf6cc7e396f78bcd6699266c2ec8e24487, the official announcement!
Hilda 28 already has a cover! And the story still has to be proofed!
I think this is a first.

Wicked Witch of the West
Producer Mervyn Leroy's original idea for casting the Wicked Witch for The Wizard of Oz was inspired by Disney's adaption of Snow White - he wanted to make her slinky + seductive. He thought he'd found the perfect choice with actress Gale Sondergaard who'd won an Oscar the previous year for her Best Supporting Actress performance in his film Anthony Adverse.
Others however disagreed, thinking witches should be ugly. They attempted to give Sondergaard 'The Ugly Treatment' with make-up, but the actress herself decided she no longer wanted the role.
"In those days I was not about to make myself ugly! I have no regrets".
