Found out that the non-plastic tea bags I had been using from Numi and Traditional Medicinals both contain banana-related plant fibers (Manila hemp and abaca, respectively) and are probably not a good idea for someone with latex food allergy syndrome.
I was trying to find a good brand of loose organic Darjeeling tea and found a couple of options - Denise's Fine Tea and Golden Moon Tea. I'll probably go with Denise's since it is based in BC and the item cost is lower (per ounce is similar) so cheaper to try.
Golden Moon's web site says all tea bags are coated in plastic - I don't know if it's true -

Pure Tea From Real Farmers People want to drink teas that are in their natural state. They want to know that what they are drinking is as close as possible to plucking a tea leaf from a bush, making the tea and drinking it. When we moved to the Barrie/Innisfil area last year we didn't realize that we would flirt with a record snowfall accumulation (482 cm), or that Innisfil would be ranked #1 in the worst roads in Ontario (CAA poll). And now, according to Aerobiology Research Laboratories, Barrie is ranked #3 in the worst cities to live in Canada if you have pollen #Allergies. If you want to avoid allergies, move east... or to Regina.

La ville de Barcelone en Espagne prévoit d'éradiquer plus de 20.000 platanes dans les 10 prochaines années, en raison de leurs allergènes. Faut-il faire de même à Toulouse (31), où les platanes sont légion ? Le point de vue...
Not as hot as earlier today, a lovely breeze, and although something is always blooming in Florida "the pollening" has been over for several weeks so I don't need a mask to walk the half mile to the store, right?
Wrong. I got about two thirds of the way there and suddenly start coughing and wheezing. More serious than a few sneezes and keep moving. I push on another block then I'm scrabbling in my bag. No new mask but I find an old 3M Aura N95 I'd taken off and dropped in there but forgot to trash.
It took another 5 minutes for the coughing and choking feeling to pass, but 20 minutes later I am home again and better with more "normal" hayfever symptoms I can manage.
I guess to keep living I need to be even more mask aware from now on.
My wife misses fabric softener and so bought a "scent free", "clear", "organic" one to try. We did one load to test it, now our clothes all have a cloying softner smell and I am sniffing and sneezing. The smell has transferred to anything those items have touched in the wardrobe and lingers behind the door in a cloud waiting to escape.
When the scientific community says "huh, that's a new one on me."
Achievement unlocked: Welding while having my annual hayfever attack and not sneezing into the mask.
