After the amazing Artemis II launch yesterday, we have our own moonshot coming up!

Journey to the Moon with a zany cast of commedia dell'arte characters as envisioned by medieval and Renaissance writers! "Arlecchino, Emperor on the Moon" blasts off on Saturday, April 11 at the Ohio State University's Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies conference on "Star Gazing: Astrology and Astronomy in the Medieval and Renaissance Imagination"!

Choices, choices... What commedia dell'arte shall we bring to Pennsic 53 this July and August?

Yesterday was our beloved April Fools Day! A few years ago we foolishly accidentally wrote a farce as a demonstration of commedia dell'arte that turned out to be a quite good play of its own! Perhaps, especially as we're showcasing commedia to more audiences lately, Pennsic 2026 is time to let "An Accidental Farce" stand the stage on its own?

Follow us and check back often for more updates on potential plays and our eventual selection!

We in The Confused Greenies of Players' Patchwork Theatre Company thought that today (the first day of the month of April) was an appropriate time to... uh.... announce our... um.... "totally legit" 2026 "season" .... Yeah... Enjoy!

The first of April is practically a holiday for this troupe of fools! So we encourage you all to have foolish fun and folly on Wednesday - and in fact everyday! We're not talking cruel pranks but the joys being mirthful and silly can bring to life!

March 31 is International Trans Day of Visibility. People who are trans, nonbinary, fluid, and all identities have always been part of theatre, culture, and our world and the performing arts is built on expressing yourself and being seen - even when (and sometimes especially so) when wearing costumes and masks).

Celebrate and ensure trans rights are human rights!

Our troupe is a patchwork of players from all walks of life. Together the myriad of patchwork pieces makes something amazing and brilliant. Every patch is valid and wanted and beautiful.

Clothing also has no gender or gender identity. Clothing is clothing. Costumes are an expression. Drag is not a crime and drag has been part of theatre since theatre was a part of theatre.

March 30 is National Victoria Day! While we might have preferred a National Vittoria Day (after the famous commedia dell'arte prima donna Vittoria Piisimi from the 16th Century) we take these words by Victoria Scott to heart everyday:

"Everyone wants to play. They're just afraid of looking stupid. But you know what's stupid? Not trying. So just...try."

Choices, choices... What commedia dell'arte shall we bring to Pennsic 53 this July and August?

Right in the middle of our November writing challenge last year, we stepped away from our prompts as we'd been inspired to adapt the historic commedia dell'arte "The Nightshirts" from the Corsiano collection in just 48 hours from reading a translation of the original to finishing a draft of a full scenario! We had hoped to stage "The Fortunate Brother" over Zoom for Commedia Day last month but perhaps it's waiting on Pennsic 2026 for it's debut?

Follow us and check back often for more updates on potential plays and our eventual selection!

If you are protesting today (or any day), make sure you know your rights. Be as safe as you can be but be effective. And if you cannot protest in-person, there are many other ways to support causes you care about. And remember: freedom of expression and freedom of speech are two of our most important rights to exercise.

But mostly, also make sure to continue to laugh, smile, and have fun. Even in dark times, find the joy. It's not just about living but about making life worthwhile!

Last week at Gulf Wars, Player of the Patchwork Mathias Blackett was Elevated to the Order of the Laurel in the Society for Creative Anachronism for his research, teaching, and application of performing arts! As part of the ceremony, a group of actors staged a commedia dell'arte play appropriately titled "The Ceremony" which also starred other Players of the Patchwork including Aibhilin, Anton, and Efenwealt and had writing contributions from our own capocomico.

Huzzah to Mathias and we hope to perform commedia with you again soon, at minimum for online production projects!
