Repose sofa by OKHA via Twentieth
Dezeen Showroom: an organic shape sculpted from wood defines the Repose sofa, created by South African interior design studio OKHA and available via Twentieth gallery.
OKHA originally designed the Repose sofa for a coastal villa that required bespoke furniture as part of its interior design.
The Repose sofa has an organic, fluid shape that came from loose sketching
The sofa's organic form solved the problem of how to create natural circulation of movement within the unusually proportioned space, while providing a highly sculpted piece that served as a visual anchor.
OKHA creative director Adam Court translated Repose from a loose sketch in his notebook to a wooden-framed sculpture then shaped and modelled the foam seating.
Its flowing shape is reminiscent of a languid, resting figure
"Aside from its physical, visual features, which I find sensual, feminine, and very human, the sofa is well-conceived in terms of ergonomics and practicality," said Court.
Repose is available in five different sizes ranging from 102 to 157 inches in width and can be customised with matching ottomans. Its cylindrical plinth base comes in either brass or wood.

Place lounge seating by Ross Gardam via Twentieth
Dezeen Showroom: Australian designer Ross Gardam has created the easily reconfigurable Place lounge seating system, which is available via contemporary design gallery Twentieth.
Place is based around modules with a simple connecting system that allows them to be dropped into place and zipped together.
The Place seating is based around easily reconfigurable modules, including some longer elements
It can be used to create versatile workspaces, with the seating being changed to support different activities throughout the day, ranging from social and collaborative, to private and focused.
All square and curved units are based around the same footprint so they can easily join together or be positioned back to back. Longer modules are also available for creating more permanent or expansive variations.
Curved elements can be used to make more cosy and collaborative meeting spaces
"Place solves problems other products do not, and it achieves this while offering an exceptional level of comfort and style," said Gardam.
"I see it as a unique product with so many configurations possible, I am truly looking forward to seeing how people use it and how it can evolve in space."
Worktables and power and USB sockets are among the accessory options, while the lounges can be upholstered in a wide range of fabrics and leathers.

AME Natural Lounge chair by Paolo Ferrari via Twentieth
Dezeen Showroom: designer Paolo Ferrari collaborated with textile artist Hiroko Takeda to make a handwoven chair, which is available via Twentieth gallery.
The AME Natural Lounge chair features a shaggy back made of an array of natural fibres that gather and drape down to the floor.
The back of the AME Natural Lounge chair is handwoven from a mix of natural fibres
The design is informed by Japanese garment making and especially the "mino", a traditional raincoat made from layers of straw.
"We were looking to explore a connection between furnishings and garment making," said Ferrari, who is based in Toronto while Takeda works from New York City.
"For us, it was an opportunity to envision furniture beyond ergonomics and form and explore materiality in a more expressive way."
Ferrari wanted to create a piece of furniture that wasn't purely about function
The back of the AME Natural Lounge chair is handwoven by Takeda from a combination of cotton tape yarn, linen, hemp, silk, wool and other fibres, including the industrially made wool bucle pulled from the front of the chair.
Each piece is unique, with the mix of fibres varying from chair to chair.
The chair was designed as part of Editions Paolo Ferrari and originally presented during New York Design Week. It is now available through Los Angeles gallery Twentieth.

Offset Cube bench by Videre Licet via Twentieth Gallery
Dezeen Showroom: Offset Cube is a sculptural bronze bench made by design studio Videre Licet, "which is as subtle as it is grand" and available through Los Angeles gallery Twentieth.
Characterised by simple geometries, Offset Cube is rendered in bronze over a wood substructure. It is crowned with a soft seat sheathed in textiles made from alpaca wool and mohair.
The Offset Cube bench is finished in bronze
The materials were chosen for their low environmental impact and assembled in LA, where the product is being sold exclusively through Twentieth.
The gallery describes the design as being "characterised by a quiet monumentalism that is as subtle as it is grand".
The cushion is upholstered in alpaca wool and mohair textiles
Offset Cube was designed by Daniele Albright, the lead designer of local studio Videre Licet, who was inspired by Californian modernism and its emphasis on minimal forms and sensory experience.
"Those are my foundations but I interpret them through a contemporary sensibility that values asymmetry and other subtle interventions and disruptions of convention," said Albright.
Offset Cube is available in either a light or medium patina bronze or pewter steel.
