Agi: Ebola, Meloni ai vertici dell'Ue: "Rafforzare la vigilanza alle frontiere"

AGI - In seguito all'epidemia di ebola nella Repubblica Democratica del Congo e in Uganda, il governo italiano chiede ai vertici dell'Unione europea di rafforzare la vigilanza alle frontiere attraverso regole comuni per la gestione degli arrivi dalle zone colpite da focolaio. Lo fa con una lettera inviata dalla premier Giorgia Meloni a Ursula von der Leyen, ad Antonio Costa, presidenti rispettivamente della Commissione europea e del Consiglio Ue e a Nikos Christodoulides, presidente di turno dell'Unione europea.

"L’Italia ritiene che la situazione epidemiologica nell'Africa centrale collegata al recente focolaio di virus Ebola Bundibugyo (BVD) nella Repubblica Democratica del Congo e in Uganda richieda la massima attenzione". E' quanto si legge in una nota di Palazzo Chigi.
Meloni all'Ue: "Rafforzare la vigilanza alle frontiere"
"Per questo motivo il Presidente del Consiglio, Giorgia Meloni, ha inviato una lettera al Presidente di turno dell'UE Nikos Christodoulides, al Presidente del Consiglio europeo António Costa e alla Presidente della Commissione europea Ursula von der Leyen. L'obiettivo - si spiega - è sollecitare, nel rispetto delle prerogative nazionali in materia di tutela della salute, un coordinamento rafforzato della vigilanza alle frontiere attraverso regole comuni per la gestione degli arrivi diretti e indiretti dalle zone colpite".
Meloni "ha proposto l'inserimento del tema della gestione delle frontiere all'ordine del giorno del Consiglio europeo del 18-19 giugno 2026", spiega sempre palazzo Chigi aggiungendo che "in vista di questo appuntamento, il Governo italiano ha chiesto di anticipare il coordinamento in oggetto in una videoconferenza dei Ministri della Salute già la prossima settimana e nel Consiglio EPSCO del 16 giugno per definire le priorità operative". A livello nazionale il Ministero della Salute, "in raccordo con la Protezione Civile, ha emanato circolari per attivare una sorveglianza sanitaria mirata e protocolli di vigilanza per i viaggiatori in rientro dalle regioni colpite".

LA NOTIZIA: Dazi, dopo le minacce di Trump l’Ue trova l’intesa sull’accordo commerciale con gli Usa

L’intesa è arrivata nella notte. Il Parlamento e il Consiglio europeo hanno trovato l’accordo sui due regolamenti comunitari necessari per mettere in pratica l’intesa con gli Stati Uniti sui dazi. Si tratta, in sostanza, della formalizzazione dell’intesa sottoscritta la scorsa estate tra Donald Trump e Ursula von der Leyen.
“Oggi l’Unione europea mantiene i propri impegni”, scrive in un comunicato la presidenza cipriota dell’Ue, ribadendo che l’Ue resta e resterà “un partner affidabile e degno di fiducia nel commercio mondiale”. Rientra così la minaccia di Trump, che aveva dato tempo all’Ue per chiudere l’intesa entro luglio, minacciando altrimenti nuovi dazi.
Cosa prevedono i due regolamenti Ue sui dazi
Il primo regolamento serve per cancellare i dazi doganali residui sui prodotti industriali statunitensi, garantendo inoltre accesso preferenziale al mercato anche con dazi ridotti per alcuni prodotti ittici e agricoli provenienti dagli Usa. Il secondo testo, invece, riguarda l’estensione della sospensione dei dazi per le importazioni di aragosta.
La trattativa tra Parlamento e Consiglio è stata molto lunga, con l’Eurocamera che aveva introdotto diverse clausole di protezione degli interessi europei, preoccupata da un partner – quello statunitense – ritenuto poco affidabile con i repentini cambi di posizione di Trump. Non a caso, l’accordo siglato questa notte prevede anche una clausola di salvaguardia nel caso di un forte aumento delle importazioni dagli Usa.
E, ancora, viene dato alla Commissione Ue il potere di sospendere in parte o completamente i testi in caso di mancato rispetto degli accordi da parte degli Stati Uniti, ma anche in caso di una rivoluzione delle relazioni commerciali tra Usa e Ue.
Un’altra clausola riguarda le concessioni dell’Ue sui prodotti siderurgici e sull’alluminio: la Commissione può sospenderle se gli Usa continueranno ad applicare una tariffa superiore al 15% su questo prodotti entro il 31 dicembre di quest’anno. Ora i dazi Usa su questi prodotti sono al 50%. Il prossimo passaggio è l’approvazione definitiva dell’accordo da parte di Parlamento Ue e Consiglio.

Tariffs, after Trump’s threats, the EU finds the agreement on the trade deal with the US.

The agreement arrived in the night. The Parliament and the European Council have reached an agreement on the two Community regulations necessary to implement the agreement with the United States on tariffs. These concern the formalization of the agreement signed last summer between Donald Trump and Ursula von der Leyen.

“Today, the European Union maintains its commitments,” the Cypriot presidency of the EU writes in a statement, reiterating that the EU will remain “a reliable and trustworthy partner in world trade.” The threat from Trump, who had given the EU time to reach the agreement by July, threatening new tariffs otherwise, is thus averted.

What do the two EU regulations on tariffs provide for?

The first regulation aims to eliminate residual customs tariffs on US industrial products, while also guaranteeing preferential access to the market even with reduced tariffs on some fish and agricultural products from the US. The second text, on the other hand, concerns the extension of the suspension of tariffs on lobster imports.

The negotiation between Parliament and the Council was very long, with the European Parliament introducing several clauses to protect European interests, concerned by a partner – the US – considered unreliable due to Trump’s sudden changes in position. No wonder the agreement signed tonight also includes a safeguard clause in the event of a significant increase in imports from the US.

And still, the EU Commission is given the power to suspend parts or all of the texts in the event of a failure by the United States to comply with the agreements, but also in the event of a revolution in trade relations between the US and the EU.

Another clause concerns the EU’s concessions on steel and aluminum products: the Commission can suspend them if the US continue to apply a tariff of over 15% on these products by December 31 of this year. Currently, the US tariffs on these products are 50%. The next step is the final approval of the agreement by the European Parliament and the Council.

Il Tempo: Putin indica Schroeder: "È lui il mediatore ideale tra Russia e UE"

Il presidente russo Vladimir Putin ha dichiarato di essere pronto ad accettare come negoziatore dell'Unione Europea  qualsiasi leader che non abbia espresso giudizi negativi sulla Russia. "Ma personalmente - ha detto parlando con i giornalisti - Il negoziatore ideale per il dialogo tra Russia ed Europa è l'ex cancelliere tedesco Schroeder".
Lo scorso 7 maggio, il presidente del Consiglio europeo António Costa ha dichiarato che l'Ue si sta preparando a possibili negoziati con Mosca sul conflitto in Ucraina. L'Unione avrebbe le potenzialità per dialogare e attualmente sta cercando di definire la modalità migliore per organizzare i preparativi per potenziali colloqui.
Lo zar, che finora ha smentito la possibilità di proroga della tregua con l'Ucraina oltre l'11 maggio, ha però fatto sapere che "il conflitto in Ucraina stia volgendo al termine" e di essere "pronto a incontrare" il presidente ucraino, Volodymyr Zelensky, "una volta che sarà' stato siglato un accordo".

Putin designates Schröder: “He is the ideal mediator between Russia and the EU”

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that he was ready to accept any leader who had not expressed negative judgments about Russia as a negotiator for the European Union. “But personally – he said, speaking to journalists – the ideal negotiator for dialogue between Russia and Europe is former German Chancellor Schroeder.”

On May 7th, President of the European Council António Costa stated that the EU was preparing for possible negotiations with Moscow on the conflict in Ukraine. The Union has the potential to dialogue and is currently trying to define the best way to organize preparations for potential talks.

The Tsar, who had previously denied the possibility of extending the truce with Ukraine beyond May 11th, indicated that “the conflict in Ukraine is coming to an end” and that he was “ready to meet” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “once an agreement has been signed.”

Agi: Cessate il fuoco tra Ucraina e Russia, non ci sarà nessuna proroga

AGI - Non sono stati raggiunti nuovi accordi con l' Ucraina per prorogare il cessate il fuoco annunciato dalla Russia in occasione del Giorno della Vittoria. Lo ha dichiarato il consigliere del Cremlino Yuri Ushakov, smentendo di fatto l'ipotesi evocata dal presidente degli Stati Uniti Donald Trump secondo cui la tregua potrebbe essere estesa oltre il periodo inizialmente previsto.
"No, c'è un accordo secondo cui il cessate il fuoco in occasione del Giorno della Vittoria durerà tre giorni: il 9, il 10 e l'11 maggio", ha affermato Ushakov parlando con i giornalisti.
Disponibilità di Putin a incontrare Zelensky
Vladimir Putin, intanto, è disposto a incontrare il presidente ucraino Vladimir Zelensky a Mosca. "Il nostro presidente ha ribadito più volte che, se Zelensky lo desidera, può chiamare Mosca. Siamo disposti a riceverlo e a intavolare dei colloqui", ha detto Ushakov ai giornalisti.
Nessun messaggio trasmesso da Fico
Alla domanda se il primo ministro slovacco Robert Fico avesse trasmesso un messaggio di Zelensky al presidente russo e se questo riguardasse un possibile incontro, Ushakov ha risposto: "Fico non ha trasmesso alcun messaggio specifico, ma ha menzionato i suoi contatti con Zelensky", secondo quanto riportano le agenzie russe.
Costa, "nostro obiettivo resta una pace giusta e duratura"
"Il nostro obiettivo non è imporre sanzioni alla Russia, ma è raggiungere una pace giusta e duratura in Ucraina, rispettando la sovranità ucraina, la sua integrità territoriale e i confini internazionalmente riconosciuti, perchè questo è molto importante non solo per l'Ucraina, ma anche per la nostra sicurezza e per la sicurezza globale". Lo ha detto il presidente del Consiglio europeo, Antonio Costa in un punto stampa all'Europa Building, oggi aperto al pubblico per la Giornata dell'Europa. "Perchè questi valori sono i valori universali sanciti dalla Carta delle Nazioni Unite e dobbiamo difendere il diritto internazionale per rafforzare il sistema multilaterale se vogliamo un futuro di pace nel mondo" ha concluso. 
"Stiamo parlando con i nostri amici ucraini per sostenerli e, naturalmente, al momento opportuno dovremo dialogare con la Russia per affrontare le nostre questioni comuni in materia di sicurezza. Aspettiamo ma allo stesso tempo siamo pronti per fare il necessario", ha concluso Costa.

AGI - No new agreements have been reached with Ukraine to extend the ceasefire announced by Russia on Victory Day. This was stated by Kremlin advisor Yuri Ushakov, effectively denying the hypothesis evoked by US President Donald Trump according to which the truce could be extended beyond the initially planned period.

“No, there is an agreement that the ceasefire on Victory Day will last three days: May 9, 10 and 11,” Ushakov said speaking to journalists.

Availability of Putin to meet Zelensky

Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin is willing to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Moscow. “Our president has reiterated many times that if Zelensky wants, he can call Moscow. We are ready to receive him and to hold talks,” Ushakov told journalists.

No message transmitted by Fico

In response to the question as to whether Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico had transmitted a message from Zelensky to the Russian president and if this concerned a possible meeting, Ushakov replied: “Fico did not transmit any specific message, but he mentioned his contacts with Zelensky,” according to Russian agencies.

Costa, “Our objective remains a just and lasting peace”

“Our objective is not to impose sanctions on Russia, but to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, respecting Ukrainian sovereignty, its territorial integrity and internationally recognized borders, because this is very important not only for Ukraine, but also for our security and for global security.” This was said by the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, at a press conference at the Europa Building, today open to the public for Europe Day. “Because these values are the universal values enshrined in the United Nations Charter and we must defend international law to strengthen the multilateral system if we want a future of peace in the world” he concluded.

“We are talking to our Ukrainian friends to support them and, of course, at the right moment we will have to dialogue with Russia to address our common issues related to security. We are waiting, but at the same time we are ready to do what is necessary,” Costa concluded.
