The Athletes / de Sporters. Bronze sculpture from 1967 in Amstelveen, by Eric Claus. The assignment to Claus was to express “heroism in sports”. He later considered the sculpture his “youthful sin”. It is now located next to the municipal sports center and swimming pool, with at the back the new building of the Hermann Wesselink high school.

For reasons not fully understood by me, the athletes face north, making it surprisingly hard to take a picture with decent light.
