@alxd mentioned solarpunk and conspiracy theories, and it clicked for me that that it something I'm currently reading about.

So I wrote down some notes on Bernhard Christoph Faust, doctor of Enlightenment era, who was early vaccine proponent, starter of theory for Solar architecture, and member of Illuminati order. I think it could be a brilliant base for a solarpunk story.

Faust of the Sunlight

Bernhard Christoph Faust was an educated doctor, early smallpox vaccine promoter, who was inspired by Enlightenment ideas and coined a term “Sonnenbaulehre” - Solar construction theory. He was one of the first persistent advocates of new architecture and urban planning, which would seriously take into account orientation of the building. He wrote a book “Zur Sonne nach Mittag sollten alle Häuser der Menschen gerichtet seyn” in 1839, where he also described an ideal solar city - Sonnenstadt. His ...

Solarpunk Architecture

Imagine a world that we all control together, not controlled by oligarch or dictators, even indirectly. Imagine something truly collaborative. That world would be very different from our own. In some ways many of us could have a lot more opportunity. But in others, we would be restricted.

In such a world, we couldn't really have elite luxuries. Having such luxuries is only valuable so long as others do not.

> Unlike the vacuum cleaner, the radio, or the bicycle, which retain their use value when everyone has one, the car, like a villa by the sea, is only desirable and useful insofar as the masses don’t have one.
- The Social Ideology of the Motorcar

Imagine a world in which we think about luxury in a radically different way, not as something that only has value via exclusivity but something that enriches the lives of the owners more as more people have them.

What would living in such a world be like? Can you describe a day in your life?

#SolarPunkPrompts: Bonetheives

A motley crew of bicycle anarchists from the Cascadian Autonomous Region make their way through the decaying and fragmented remains of fascist America in search of Trump's mausoleum. In this buddy road trip story, the group has all sorts of unexpected adventures, dodging cults and corporations offering government service subscriptions, on their quest to steal Trump's bones and bring them back to Portland, so they can be integrated into the construct of the new Portland People's Assembly Hall public urinal.

Special - Interview with Ada Palmer: History of ideas and our climate imaginations

This is a special episode - instead of a regular writing prompt, it’s a recording of an interview with professor Ada Palmer from Bazyliszek convention in Warsaw, Poland in July 2025. Professor Ada Palmer, a well-acclaimed historian of ideas, set the action of her science fiction series “Terra Ignota” several hundred years from now. The world she imagined presents vast societal and cultural changes, but the topic of climate change is treated much more implicitly. Within the context of professor’s books - and the now growing genre of climate fiction - let’s discuss why it’s so hard for us to imagine and describe the climate change of the XXI century. Seeing how a lot of #solarpunk #illustration used by magazines, portals and even researchers tends to be #AI generated bullshit I'd like to start a gallery with curated, intentional and human-made #creativeCommons #art for anyone to use.

I'd also like it to be a place with #solarpunkPrompts available in multiple languages - as we have them in Polish, English and Italian - potentially cross-linked and tagged by themes.

Do you have any #ideas , #feedback for such a site?

@Fishercat I do not think that any serious anarchist wants to burn down infrastructure. I do not consider anarcho-primitivists serious people, at least less serious than arachno-communists.

In the vision of #solarpunk I susbscribe to communal care of infrastructure is crucial.

I wrote about it at https://lenses.alxd.org/ and dedicated a few episodes of the #solarpunkPrompts podcast, like https://podcast.tomasino.org/@SolarpunkPrompts/episodes/the-great-infrastructure-project

Solarpunk: lenses and foundations

Round Mirror by Ethan Sees Last year I published a lengthy videoessay on Solarpunk as a part of collaboration with a philosophical YouTube channel "Myśleć Głębiej" (Think That Through in English). It took me a few months to translate it and update a few sections (especially regarding cyberpunk's romanticism), but I'd like to present you with a written form of my essay - available in audio HERE! The recorded form follows a deeper exploration of philosophy of the movement, thoroughly discussing the notions of cultural hieroglyphs and squeecore I only briefly mention in the text below: Who am I? My name is Pawel Ngei, on the internet also known as A-L-X-D. I’m a software developer and hacker, someone analysing technology outside of a formal framework of a company or university. I’m especially interested in cultural narratives about technology and engineering, their impacts on societies and communities. I first encountered Solarpunk soon after the “Notes towards a Manifesto” came to be at Arizona State University in 2014 while looking for a way to express some …
