SFC's policy fellow, @bkuhn, just posted a relevant-to-current-events article entitled “Dealing with Incomplete Copyleft Source That Doesn't Correspond”.

With the recent news about Bambu Studio's AGPL violations, this advice on how to handle a protracted period of “incomplete-ccs” from a vendor is very much needed.

Dealing with Incomplete Copyleft Source That Doesn't Correspond

Years ago, copyleft violations were often a mere misunderstanding; vendors intended to comply but made mistakes. In those “before times”, a simple request and short discussion often led to the complete, Corresponding Source (“CCS”) for the the distributed binary works (or, in the case of network-service copyleft, the deployed systems).

The topic is "Good Enough Ancestor: Software Freedom as Civic Care across Generations". It will connect the software freedom movement to Audrey's and Caroline Green's framework for local, community-governed, more caring AI systems rather than reliance on centralised systems. Tang and Green work in the local University of Oxford Institute for AI Ethics. Tang is also first Digital Minister of Taiwan, and 2025 Right Livelihood laureate. Before ministership and research, Tang was a prolific FLOSS programmer, and since has for example helped persuade Pol.is to adopt the AGPL license.

I just discovered how awesome #Podcasts are

Like not necessarily the content, but the distribution tech is usually surprisingly open!

Most Podcasts are distributed over #RSS feeds. You can just follow them, no need to log in or anything.

And since this is the standard and the easiest way to publish podcasts (give providers just a link to the feed), this privacy-, freedom-, and user-friendly stystem stayed largely intact 🤯
