Happy Twin Peaks Day!
Carnation, WA has joined the proclamations across Snoqualmie Valley declaring February 24th as Twin Peaks Day.
photo I took at the brewery, because who has time for meeting minutes lol
Every day, I'm checking the WFWD site for when Rattlesnake Lake is stocked with this season's trout. It's sort of an artificial lake, created unintentionally when the Cedar River was dammed to create the Chester Morse reservoir. Water seeped through the mountains and created a spring that fed Rattlesnake Lake. The lake displaced the town of Cedar Falls/Moncton and the residents were compensated for the mistake.
Today, Rattlesnake Lake fills up every Spring as water is gathered behind the dam, and the lake nearly disappears as water is released over the winter.
It's a beautiful, quiet place to go fishing with a kayak. I've found that heading out after I log off is the best time of day as the trout become active at sundown. People there for recreation start leaving about that time, and it's usually just me, the fish, and some bald eagles.
The fish are pretty small when placed but they grow bigger as the summer progresses. By Fall, they're frequently 12" or bigger.
Gorgeous day above the #SnoqualmieValley on the good olβ #MTB
