Busy day, filling raised beds with sheep wool, sheep manure, sifting soil from a spoil heap following recent drain work and finally a layer of compost on top. We will be planting strawberries in the first bed :-) Yum.

Beautiful day for the first time in ages. I am recovering from a migraine and (perhaps because I didn’t take my ADHD meds) I thought what better cure than to cut down that tree which is growing too close to the gate. #Smallholding

A sunny day, it's been a while so this is a good chance to clear away some soil heaps left over from drainage installation in preparation for building new raised beds.

First batch of green tomato chutney in the jar. It already has a nice bite to it, but it'll need a few months to mature properly.

Dear #rewilding / #permaculture / #smallholding / #tree planting people of the fediverse,

I'm looking for planting ideas for a field boundary windbreak, preferably fairly quick growing, ending up say 5-8m high or easily manageable to that height.

Exposed location - doing this because there is basically nothing between our kitchen garden/orchard trees and whatever weather comes up the Bristol Channel.

Monday morning, misty and damp after a weekend of Storm Amy. All peaceful and quiet.

We have an abundance of blackberries growing in the garden right now. It's wonderful. I've been making crumbles. They are also absolutely delicious, stewed #LowFoodMiles #sustainability #seasonality #PesticideFree #Harvest #Smallholding #OrganicLiving #HomeGrown
Occasionally I post a #sheep photo as I also manage a #smallholding in SW #Scotland.
The recent warmer weather has been a concern, but we do have several shady spots.
