Eigentlich hatte ich in den Blüten nach Bienen und Hummeln gesucht, als plötzlich dieser dicke Käfer auftauchte. Zunächst war mir nicht klar, was ich da sah, da die Blüte viel zu hoch war, um sie gut zu fotografieren. Zudem war es Mittagszeit und sehr grell, sodass ich gar nicht richtig erkennen konnte, was ich da fotografiert habe. Erst daheim ist mir aufgefallen, dass es sich um einen wunderschönen, goldglänzenden Rosenkäfer handelte.

🇬🇧 I was actually looking for bees and bumblebees in the flowers when this fat beetle suddenly appeared. At first I didn't realise what I was looking at as the blossom was far too high to take a good photo of it. It was also midday and very bright, so I couldn't really recognise what I was photographing. It wasn't until I got home that I realised it was a beautiful, shiny green rose chafer.

Rowans have started to set up buffets, and these gluttons – rose chafers – have certainly noticed it. Judging by the amount of pollen on the big beetle, it seems like it has been partying hard.

ℹ️ The rose chafer (Cetonia aurata) grows up to 20 mm long and is found on flowers (e.g. roses). It belongs to the horned leaf beetles and is a protected species. 🏆 In 2000, the rose chafer was voted insect of the year in Germany.

ℹ️ Der goldgläzende Rosenkäfer (Cetonia aurata) wird bis zu 20 mm lang und ist auf Blüten zu finden (z.B. von der Rose). Er gehört zu den Blatthornkäfer und ist eine geschützte Käferart. 🏆 Im Jahr 2000 wurde der goldgläzende Rosenkäfer zum Insekt des Jahres gewählt.
