Monday was an exicting day for Koa, as he got to drive in the back of Skoosh for the first time on his own. And, he went to the woods for the first time... He was done when we got home, haha. Tuesday, my mum came to doggy-sit, so that I could visit the physio and get a few groceries. On Wednesday, we had a relaxing day. On Thursday, we went to Nijmegen early in the morning. Rumpled and bleary-eyed

Today hasn’t started well. I got up around 3 a.m. and am rumpled and bleary-eyed in both appearance and mood as a result. I find it hard to think clearly about anything, let alone the many things I…

Who knew how important it is to wear the right shoes for a walk? I didn’t. But I think my wife is right that the aches and pains, unusually strong, that I’ve had since my Sunday afternoon walk are …

Journal – Week 20 🥳, May 2026

The week started with my 46th birthday! Happy b-day me... Last year, my b-day turned into a tragedy, so it was a bit hard to shake that off... On Tuesday, Nicole came to puppy-sit Koa, so I could visit the physio, which was very much welcome... On Wednesday, someone from the WMO (city's support) came to our place, to discuss the help I'd need, and the help I would be allowed and able to get. Thursday we had a more relaxing day, the first one in a while, and it was really nice. Friday, mum came to puppy-sit, and I coud visit the physio, and get a few things from the supermarket. The weekend, we tried to relax, ut I also tried to offer some new things to Koa, like new walking routes and such. The weather had its moments, but we had quite a bit of rain, some of the days... This is a 14-day weather forecast for Herpen, starting from May 11, 2026, provided by Weer & Radar. The image features a line graph showing a clear warming trend over the next two weeks:First Week (May 11 – May 17): Temperatures start cool with a high of 10°C today, climbing steadily to 18°C by Sunday. Nighttime lows also rise, staying consistently between 9°C and 12°C.Sunshine: The yellow bars at the bottom indicate sunshine duration, showing "little" (lichtgeel) sun for the rainy start of the first week and "much" (felgeel) sun as the temperatures peak in the second week. The legend at the bottom specifies that red dots represent the maximum temperature and blue dots represent the minimum temperature in Celsius. The OW Factor

Since a friend asked for her nephew today, I would give four pieces to advise to a depressed teen (as a formerly depressed teen and now depressed adult):

- the time in school should not be the best time in your life. In fact it's totally okay if it's the worst, it's the same for many of us. You don't learn for life, you learn for school, and passing is passing.
- Find your hobbies, find, what is fun to you. The opinion of those who don't treat you okay isn't important. If it's fun for you (and you don't bother people in the process) it's valid
- Nothing in life ever matters in the long run and as a teen you mostly never did anything that will matter even ten years from now. Try not to worry too much.
- At your age life shouldn't hurt. If it hurts, physically or mentally, go see a doctor. If you feel uncomfortable with a doctor, go to a different doctor.

Losing some weight

I've been struggling with my weight for many years. It goes up, and up some more... I get tired of looking like I do, and feeling like I do, and I try to find ways to work towards losing the weight again. Sometimes, I'm successful, and after hard work, and loads of efforts, I manage to get my weight back to a healthier number. I do my best to keep it there, until something happens, or several things happen, and I lose the ability to keep the weight down... I will "do my best", but it won't be enough. I need to find a way to make some changes, to get back on track to what worked before. To find a way to be able to lose weight again. I'll try to change my routine in the gym. I'll try to watch my food better, to buy less unhealthy stuff... And it takes time... But, if I'm lucky, after a while, I may start to lose some weight again. Sometimes I am very fortunate, and it has a quick and efficient effect. Sometimes, it takes me way too long, and I start to think that maybe this time, I just can't make the change anymlre. I've been on that point for a while now, but... 🍀 […]
