Outstayed my time
Someone asked me yesterday how many days I had left at my current workplace. I blurted out: “Too many!” It was a little embarrassing because my response was so unfiltered, but it reflects the truth…
The OW Factor
When you have a nincompoop for a boss
Over the course of 35 years, I have had my fair share of bosses. Although it might read like I’m super judgy, most of them have not been very good. There are some, though, who were outstandin…
The OW Factor#Dysfunction was the brand at #IslandRecords throughout its history. The #DaveMason - #SteveWinwood feud was an early chapter in this history. Rest in peace old mate. I enjoyed your work after #Traffic much more than when you were in it, especially #MaraposaDeOro.

The GuardianCongress is broken — and the proof is in the timestamps. Senators are routinely voting past 3 a.m., half-asleep, on issues that affect millions of Americans. Republican Sen. Kevin Cramer calls it flatly: "The dysfunction is getting worse." In March, the Senate passed a DHS funding bill at 2 a.m. — only for House members who were literally asleep to wake up and reject it. The department remains unfunded. Leaders are governing by exhaustion, forcing votes in the dead of night to override objections. This isn't democracy — it's survival mode.

Late-night votes are an age-old pressure tactic for congressional leaders in both major political parties. Yet overnight sessions have become increasingly common in Congress as the House and the Senate struggle to govern. Lawmakers say it’s a symptom of a broken Congress that often has to resort to extreme measures to pass major legislation and is often careening from one crisis to the next. In just the last few weeks, Congress has done much of its work in the middle of the night, leading to confusion and chaos in both chambers. Republican Sen. Kevin Cramer of North Dakota says, “The dysfunction is getting worse.”
