Profoundly stupid and staggeringly short sighted.

The current american administration has likely presided over & accelerated the largest exodus of intellectual capital the US has ever had. They've achieved this by de-funding, sabotaging and disbanding the exact organisations that bright minds congregate at.

Now it seems they wish to stunt and disable their next generations advancement by hobbling the young peoples free access to the fundamental tools used to live and work in the technology age.

Such measures, will likely limit the next generations ability to advance, providing the administration a method to monitor, stifle and harass any growth the next generations american might make, based on their perverse ideological concepts & perceived wrong doing.

This is tantamount to facilitating child abuse and grooming at corporate and governmental scale.

The module either needs to electrically cut the data lines. Fun bit. This could be done only while the car is in motion, and maintained for a set period of time after motion stops. Smart filtering may be needed if GPS data goes over the same data lines.

🚨Did DHS Kill The SOLE Witness in Forgotten Case?!

If somebody wants to make cellular modem kill switches for autos this is a great reason.

https://youtu.be/rcjGx8RpiqE

Most autos that have cellular and bluetooth hookups use a module. That is because of the costs of testing and licensing a circuit board for every revision if it has the radio hardware on board. Same thing is done in laptops and computers for their WIFI/Bluetooth hardware.

I wonder how many Nitro subscriptions they lost. Has anyone got the graph? :)

I would be happy that there is more transparency coming but most of this is still "plans as usual, we just reworded some things to make them sound better" and I have no reason to return to Discord as an active user.

When trust is burned, I don't tend to give companies second chances; that's for only friends.

Getting Global Age Assurance Right: What We Got Wrong and What's Changing

Discord's CTO addresses community concerns about age assurance: no mass ID collection, new vendor transparency commitments, and a delayed global launch until 2026.

"Trump wants to prosecute anti-fascists as terrorists. This Texas trial will test his power.

A July 4 shooting at an ICE detention center could change the way the federal government prosecutes activists.

(. . .)

This is not just about antifa. Anything that feels at odds with this administration’s policies could be considered domestic terrorism, and will be pursued with the full force of the federal government.

(. . .)

Since charges were filed, senior members of the Trump administration have held up the Prairieland case as a proof point in their wider campaign against anti-government organizing, arguing that local activism and demonstrations are coordinated attacks by domestic terrorists. Trump’s Department of Justice portrays antifa — a contraction of'anti-facist' long understood as a loose left-wing ideology, not an organization — as a structured 'militant enterprise' comparable to foreign terrorist organizations, one that calls for the overthrow of the U.S. government and poses a national security threat.

But legal experts tell MS NOW that the Prairieland case — in which defendants face decades in prison on state and federal charges — is more complicated than the government’s framing suggests, and that the prosecution appears to be motivated by politics. They warn that the DOJ’s targeting of progressive activists risks criminalizing protest activity, and reflects an expansion of executive power under the Trump administration that casts protesters and perceived political opponents as enemies of the state."

Mahmoud's reflections in the Telegraph of a British #Panoptician appear to be getting very little attention from the MSM

Two Minneapolis residents, monitoring immigration enforcement, say they were detained without charges for hours in distressing conditions, denied calls, and pressured to identify protest organizers and undocumented neighbors. Their accounts suggest DHS is using tactics like warrantless arrests, patrols, and aggressive force similar to other cities’ crackdowns, violating protesters’ First Amendment rights. One was even offered money or legal protection to betray others, exposing intimidation efforts. DHS has yet to comment. These reports raise serious concerns about civil liberties and federal overreach amid aggressive immigration tactics in the Twin Cities. Want more details? US citizens arrested by ICE in Minneapolis describe harrowing detention facility conditions

Two Minneapolis friends who have been monitoring immigration officers’ actions during the Trump administration’s latest crackdown say they were detained without charge for several hours in distressing conditions, denied phone calls, and pressured to rat out protest organizers and people living in the country illegally. Brandon Sigüenza and Patty O’Keefe's accusations suggest that the Department of Homeland Security is using similar tactics in Minneapolis as it did during the crackdowns in Los Angeles, Chicago and New Orleans. Federal officers are again using roving patrols, warrantless arrests and aggressive tactics such as spraying chemical irritants, breaking car windows and recording protesters, including Renee Good in the moments before an ICE officer fatally shot her.
