De politie heeft vanmiddag een aanhouding verricht tijdens een pro-Palestijnse demonstratie in het centrum. Het ging om een demonstrant die op de Dam een Israëlische vlag van een tegendemonstrant had afgepakt.
De vrouw had na het afpakken de vlaggenstok gebroken, vertelt een woordvoerder van de politie. "Ze is aangehouden voor vernieling en de zaak wordt ingezonden naar het Openbaar Ministerie, zoals gebruikelijk." De pro-Palestijnse demonstrant zit nog vast voor verhoor. Er is aangifte tegen haar gedaan.
Op beelden die op sociale media (link naar Instagram) staan is de aanhouding te zien. Er werd ook een tweede vrouw door agenten meegenomen, maar zij is uiteindelijk dus niet daadwerkelijk aangehouden.
De tegendemonstrant met de Israëlische vlag laat aan AT5 weten dat het vooral om een poging tot het afpakken van de vlag ging: "Ik heb de vlag pas losgelaten in het gedrang toen de politie haar vastgreep om hen niet in de weg te lopen. Wel heeft ze mijn vlaggenstok gebroken, maar ik heb er weer twee besteld."
