I launched a free game three weeks ago, and it's been so much fun. The community that has formed is wholesome and supportive, and I think they're having just as much fun as I am :)
I've built several APIs in the past. I've written so much documentation over the years. But this is the first time I can say I've done those two things for the simple pleasure of it.
Seeing the community of players forming as they code their own client interfaces has really restored my faith in the hobbiest code spirit.
To quote @pseudonym: "Playing the game, and writing the game client, are two different games."
