I posted this on X but what's the point? No interaction at all, ever.. The only way to get an answer to a question is on #mastadon So, here it is. I have since looked at the BIOS and didn't see anything there either:
Today, I am getting very low level with my #Thinkpad computer. I discovered I've got a 512GB #NVMe drive, as well as a #HDD drive. When I've been running the machine, it's only ever displayed 512GB available. Does that mean the HDD drive has not being initialised this whole time?!
edit/
Even from new I've only ever had 512gb so I don't think anything burnt out or broke.

I also have the master PS file for my housecleaning flier on it and I noticed a typo on and now I can't fix it! D'oh!
I replaced the hard drive a few yrs ago and the tracking pad and replaced the RAM chips, so this isn't beyond me hopefully, but it's still a PITA.
