In some parts of #HomeAssistant I mixed YAML and Jinja2.

Today, in #ESPHome, I mixed YAML with C/C++.

Hard to tell which was worse.

One of the favourite things I got for my #homelab is the #homeassistant green (https://www.home-assistant.io/green/). The device and support are great. It even allowed me to have Uptime Kuma (https://uptimekuma.org/) installed right on it. Together with installing Glances (https://github.com/nicolargo/glances) on all machines and using its rest api for monitoring I suddenly have full visibility. Currently still using Pushover for notifications until I can use #signal for it ... pretty please :)

Mod This IKEA Lamp Into Smart Lighting For Not A Lot

The IKEA SKAFTSÄRV is an economical LED accent lamp, but while highly affordable it has only fixed lighting options. [simoneluconi] shows how it can easily be turned into a fully-configurable, WLED…

I experimented with Claude and Home Assistant to update my dashboard with network monitoring cards for my Unifi router and access points.

I also asked Claude to document the process in a blog post at https://lab.schoonens.nl/posts/homeassistant-network-monitoring/ for future reference.

Flightradar made some changes to their bot protection on their cloudflare endpoint, so my usual polling of the area outside my window for #HomeAssistant and the Tidbyt stopped working due to getting rate limited.

Interestingly, I have another zone configured with this integration around the Taskmaster house, but this one is not getting rate limited.

Developer theorized that LHR is such a busy area that it h as more caching than SAN, so polling that data is not triggering protection vs the less cached area for SAN.

I was tracking SAN departures and arrivals, but I don't really use that a lot, so I turned that off, and I also added an automation to turn off the API polling for my SAN area from midnight to 5 am to try to cut down on requests. I also changed the polling interval from 30s to 60s.

In #HomeAssistant I set up an old Raspberry Pi, small speaker, and lav mic as a voice satellite and I've been programming voice automations for it. Need a new wake word though, "Jarvis" keeps getting misheard when it hears e.g., "charger", and "Nabu" is not intuitive or memorable enough, hard to say sometimes even. The nice thing was it was basically zero cost I had all the stuff already.
@MoepMan i am currently using the #IKEA Dirigera because the #homeassistant #zbt2 is still not working with Ikea #Thread #Matter for me...

Sounds funny, give it a try 😁

Very much enjoying that you need to use Zigbee2MQTT to get decent zigbee support for devices you want to use in Home Assistant and that the link between Home Assistant and Zigbee2MQTT is as coherent and stable as ol’ Musky on a ketamine binge.

Yes, “enjoying”.
