My aperitif today is a Bee’s Knees, made with Mike’s hot honey. It adds a little bit of a kick to this lemon and gin drink.

Just finished writing an article, so I'm grabbing a quick coffee at Brother Baba Budan. Busy on the public holiday!

Today I thought, “I wish they still made Choco Vine. That would be the perfect drink tonight.” Well, I stopped by the grocery store & guess what I found? #chocolate #amDrinking

8. What's your favourite food and drink combo when writing?

I never eat while writing. But I do enjoy a good glass of whiskey.

How do you deal with setbacks?

Ah, an easy question. I deal with setbacks, especially the stupid ones (I missed sending a story in by deadline, for instance), in the usual writerly way. Booze. Mostly scotch.

In Parsippany, NJ, the Sheraton hotel bartender (Thomas) made an amazing French 75, shaking it at tableside, pouring it into a Martini glass, and floating champagne on top to finish it. It tasted amazing!!

He asked whether I wanted it on ice or not (some people drink it on ice--no one *I* know), and we had a marvelous talk about craft cocktails. He makes his own simple syrup--from raw sugar only, please. I wish we could drink there more often.

Q1 - Incorporating clothing into your writing.

I use clothing to help set the mood:
I say in my corner of the bar, dressed in black, with a dark hat pulled down over my eyes. My style said Leave me alone.

A bartender in two layered tank tops (not too tight!), to make it easy for her to flair while she works--because bottles and shakers can hang up unpredictably on clothing.

Q2: Pumpkin spice latte or pumpkin spice coffee:

a) a tasty seasonal treat that you can’t wait for
b) a seasonal treat you can take or leave
c) the devil’s work
d) other–please explain

Inserting the only flavor that makes pumpkin palatable into a beverage that doesn't need it and never asked for it.
