R. A. Klepsis, author and Wizard Extraordinaire, spends most of his time at his residence outside of Ilium, where he writes and tends his collection of tiny monsters. He insists that the stories that blame him for inciting the Dragon Wars are very much exaggerated.

#MarkethingMonday New book out today!

Living in the middle of nowhere in Siberia is bad enough for Volodya, but his town also sits on the border between the worlds of humans and the mythical, and it's his family's job to keep the peace.

So, want to find out what to do if the local mobster's being haunted, an artefact from the space race is causing nightmares or there's an elk on your car refusing to move, this is the book for you!

June 16.    Do you write out accents phonetically/use eye dialects? Why or why not?

I've done a few accents. Only for bit characters in one or two scenes. It makes the scene a little more memorable.

#ScribesAndMakers 13Jun—Self-Promo day: Show us what you're proud of. Boost away!

I'm most proud of The Way of the Wielder series.

This romantic fantasy, with elemental magic, mystery, adventure, and action is very close to my heart. It's emotional and somewhat dark, but not without wit and endearing friendships.

You can learn about my books (including my MG story) on my website: https://sarahjhoodlet.com/books/

And you can buy/preorder them on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/stores/author/B0CYF7Q1XW/allbooks

June 13. Do you restrict what you read or watch while working on a WIP? Why or why not?

For better or worse, once I've decided what to write I just go and do it, and nothing can sway me from that path (even if it should). So I don't need to worry about what else I'm reading during the process.

#ScribesAndMakers 6/13. Self-promotion day: show us what you're proud of. Let's boost away.

I'm proud of both my medieval mystery series, the Matthew Cordwainer series and the Gavin Rownt series. I'm also proud of my one novel that isn't part of either series, Pudlicott's Confession. You can get all of these on Amazon as ebooks.

June 12. How much of your ideals are imbued in your work?

I think by not clearly enunciating my values, I can remain willfully blind about whether my writing reflects my values. That way, I can write what serves the story and not worry about whether it is "right" or "sends the right message."

How can we, as adults, get excited about art/creativity again? (credit @SJHoodlet and @Emmacox )

This requires a cultural shift, and we subsist in a culture where too many people strive to be "the best." That degree of competition is nothing short of stifling.

I try to encourage people to suck at something new, to FAFO...because creativity happens right there in the middle. Creative types FA with novel ideas all the time, FO what happens, make a few tweaks, and try again

#ScribesAndMakers 6/12 How can we, as adults, get excited about art/creativity again?

I think by leaning into the fun of it. By not worrying about how "good" it is, how much others will like it, or how much money it can make.

Kids don't worry about that stuff. Everything they make is a masterpiece, and the adults in their lives usually reinforce that. And they get so excited about it!

But then we start judging and rating and blah.

If we could stop doing that, I think it'd be more enjoyable
